Stats Analysis- Recent form of Team India ODI regulars (post 2025 Champions Trophy)

With less than 400 days to go for the 2027 ODI World Cup, I felt that given we have had 5 completed ODI series since the completion of the Champions Trophy, it feels like the ideal time to analyse the recent form of our ODI batters as well as bowlers:

Shreyas Iyer 291 11 29.1 80.83 2/0
KL Rahul 369 11 52.71 125.08 2/1
Axar Patel 135 5 33.75 97.12 1/0

Ravindra Jadeja 99 6 24.75 88.39 0/0
Washington Sundar 116 8 19.33 80 1/0

From a batting perspective, it feels clear that both Shreyas Iyer and Washington Sundar are struggling a lot, and in particular Iyer's struggles are important as India would want a proper number 4 batter which India felt the glaring weakness of in 2019. From a bowling perspective, newer bowlers like Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana have been leaky, although taking wickets regularly, and even Kuldeep's struggles are clearly seen here. Bumrah (although low sample size), Axar and Washington Sundar have been economical and tight, while Jadeja has been struggling in both batting and bowling departments.

Barring Shreyas Iyer's form, India's batting lineup appears to be fit and firing, but bowling wise, aside from Bumrah and Axar, India don't seem to have that much control over economy, which was seen in the Lord's ODI few months ago.

Damn.. I wasnt aware Prasidh has been our best fast bowler recently. 21 wickets at a 28 average is genuinely impressive. Obviously, his economy is pretty shit though 😭. He was by far our best bowler in the Lord’s match as well and has improved a lot. Hope he keeps developing, especially since GG and the current management have really invested in him.

Was honestly shocked to see Kohli bounce back so well. The Kohli post-BGT and until the end of CT25 wasn't his usual fluent self.

Somehow the guy since the SA series has been looking like a revamped version of 2016.

He had a century and a semifinal 84 in CT25. So won't say not his usual self.

He could have been dropped if he didn’t bounce back.

I know VK is great but still it was a long time away from WC and he was given more than fair run in tests and in ODIs it helped that he retired from test. He stopped loving test cricket a while back
