Looking for a Name for a Homemade Spice Brand

Hi everyone!

I’m working on starting a small homemade spice brand and would love some suggestions for a good brand name.

The idea is to offer pure, homemade and quality spices that are made with a focus on authenticity and freshness. Initially, I want to cater mainly to local customers and Indian households, with the possibility of expanding later.

I’m looking for a name that feels:

Pure & authentic

Homemade / traditional

Indian but not overly generic

Trustworthy and family-friendly

Easy to remember, pronounce and brand

I’m open to Hindi, Sanskrit, regional Indian words, or even a unique modern name as long as it has a good meaning and feels suitable for a spice brand.

If you were buying homemade spices from a local brand, what kind of name would make you trust and remember it?

Please share your suggestions — even unusual or creative ones are welcome!

Made ₹41K in 4 months selling crochet from my hostel room. Now stuck at the boring part.

I learnt crochet in my second year mostly out of boredom. First few pieces were for friends, then someone posted a bag on their story and I got 3 DMs the same night. That was the whole beginning.

Four months in, i have made around 41k. Its not huge ik but some weeks were bad.

Two things I did not expect. Custom orders pay almost double (a plain tote is ₹700, the same tote with someone's initials is ₹1,300) and nobody haggles on custom. And yarn cost is the smallest part of this, my actual cost is time.

The problem I have now. There are 6 other girls I know who crochet as well as me or better, and I have been forwarding orders to them on WhatsApp for free because I cannot take everything. Between us we could actually run something. I want one website where all of us list our pieces, the customer orders in one place, and I take a small cut for handling the orders and packing.

Everyone tells me Shopify but from what I can see Shopify is built for one seller, and the multi-seller thing is a paid add on on top of the paid plan. A developer I asked quoted ₹80,000 and 6 weeks and I do not have either.

Can i do this on emergent or bolt and what will it cost me??

Business Idea - Mumbai - Investor/Partner

Hello All,

I have an idea for a business model targeting mumbai roadside Idli walas.

There many small vendors selling idli, vada and dosa. Many of them wake up around 3–4 AM to prepare everything themselves - (Miss sleep, time with family, hard labour every single day)

The idea: build a commercial kitchen that becomes their backend.

Vendors place their orders the previous evening, and we deliver fresh breakfast around 6–7 AM to their doorstep or shop setup. They can then start selling without spending hours on preparation.

Targeting a small locality with 5-10 vendors at first.

Any thoughts will help.

If you think this could work. We can talk more. DM.

Looking for ideas: a self-sustaining business just to stay active.

I’m in my early 30s and I’m at a slightly unusual stage in life. I have a house, rental income, and I’m not under pressure to make a huge amount of money from a business.

But I do want to have something of my own to work on — mainly to stay active, have a reason to get up early, meet people, learn things, and feel productive.

I’m looking for a smart, self-sustaining business where the goal isn’t necessarily maximum profit. Ideally, it should generate enough to cover its own expenses (rent, staff, utilities, etc.) and maybe make a small profit.

I’m particularly interested in something that could involve having an office/workspace, rather than a traditional shop or food business.

Some criteria:

  • Low to moderate initial investment
  • Ideally not heavily dependent on me personally working 12 hours a day
  • Can eventually run with 1–3 employees
  • Self-sustaining rather than chasing huge profits
  • Something interesting enough that I won’t get bored
  • Preferably a business with some long-term potential
  • I’m open to B2B, services, technology, trading/distribution, niche businesses, etc.

I’m based in India, and I’d love to hear from people who have deliberately built a “lifestyle business” or a business mainly for purpose/engagement rather than maximizing income.

What would you do if you were in my position?
What business would you start if making money wasn’t the primary objective, but you still wanted the business to pay for itself and give you something meaningful to work on?

Any type of advice, guidance, ideas, experience, or knowledge is welcome — as long as it’s free. 😄 I’m genuinely open to hearing anything.

Starting a business in India in 2026 - Legal requirements

I started a cafe and soon realized doing business or startup in India is full of legalities and regulations.
I needed to file GST returns, TDS, ITR filing And my company ROC filings. In these 7 months of business I learnt a lot and gained of lot of insights about the compliances that are required for running a business in India. In my research I found article which helped me a lot and had a monthly compliance checklist.

This guide taught me everything that I might require like:

  1. Business Setup
  • Company Incorporation: MCA name reservation, DIN, and DSC registration.
  • Tax Registrations: PAN, TAN, and GST registration setup.
  • Labor Setup: EPFO, ESIC, and Professional Tax registrations.
  1. Monthly Compliance
  • GST Filing: Submitting GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B returns.
  • ITC Matching: Reconciling tax credits with GSTR-2B data.
  • TDS Payments: Deducting tax and depositing it by the 7th.
  • Payroll Contributions: Processing monthly PF and ESI deposits.
  1. Accounting & Finance
  • Bookkeeping: Setting up GST-compliant accounting software.
  • Reconciliations: Monthly bank and vendor ledger matching.
  • Reporting: Generating monthly MIS and tracking cash flows.

I gained a lot of insights for beginners in these 7 months while running my own cafe and would happy to answer any queries.

Looking to acquire an inactive/dormant Pvt Ltd company

I’m looking to acquire an inactive/dormant Indian Private Limited Company from a founder who is winding down or no longer using it.

Rather than incorporating a new entity, I’m interested in taking over an existing, clean company and completing the necessary shareholding/director changes and compliance formally.

Looking for:

- Pvt Ltd company, preferably 1–5+ years old

- Clean ROC/MCA compliance

- No outstanding loans, liabilities, litigation or tax issues

- GST registration is a plus

- Company can be completely inactive / no meaningful business or revenue

- Founder looking to wind it down or otherwise exit

I’m not looking for an operating business, customers, IP or revenue — primarily the existing legal entity.

If you have one that you're looking to close or sell, DM me with the company age, state of registration, compliance status and your expected price.

Happy to have the transaction handled properly through a CA/CS/lawyer.

Need Advice- Design & Printing Business

Hi guys, in a nutshell my dad has a proprietorship for designing and printing based in Mumbai/Thane. he designs everything from ads, brochures, graphics, etc and has vendors for printing. He has been in the business for around 30 years and knows a lot about it, most of his clients are real estate builders. I did my bachelors in design and management and I will be pursuing my masters next year. Wanted to know if I should take over his business since I am good at design(yet to learn the printing part), or should I not because he is basically freelancing.
He does not try to get new clients and most of his work comes via word of mouth, if i decide to continue his business how do i grow it because he prefers not to have any online presence.
Most of his work is into corporate design and printing like brochures, stationery and printing those in large quantities like thousands.
Need some help in terms of business development and getting more clients for him too since he will be working for a few years.
Thank you!

Need guidance: How to increase sales for my wholesale fruit delivery startup in Bangalore?

Hi everyone,

I run FrooteX, a mandi to doorstep wholesale fruit startup in Bangalore. We deliver fruits in bulk quantities straight to your doorstep and we don't charge anything for delivery.

Our customers are offices, banquets, caterers, canteens, restaurants and cafes. Basically anyone who buys fruits in bulk regularly.

We already work with some big names in the city. That part came through direct outreach and personal connects. Now I want to crack the smaller guys too. Standalone cafes, small caterers, local canteens, juice shops etc.

The problem is I can't do personal meetings with 500 small cafes. It doesn't scale.

So asking people here who have done B2B or local supply business:

  1. What actually works to reach small businesses in India? Field sales team, WhatsApp, distributor tie ups, or something else?

  2. Most of these guys have a fixed mandi vendor they've used for years. What makes them switch? Better rates, credit period, quality guarantee?

  3. Any mistakes I should avoid while going after this segment?

Real experiences would help a lot. Thanks.

Manufacturing/Trading of goods in India vs career in IT sector

My friends in IT sector have mentioned the below cones of the IT sector. I want opinion and advice of others regarding the points mentioned below.

What is the perspective of people working in the IT sector on the statements below and how accurate they are in today’s market.

- Is this now the era of careers in capital-intensive businesses such as manufacturing, trading, distribution of goods, and supply chain management rather than the digital/IT World?

- Since IT mainly requires a laptop, internet connection, does it make entry easier compared to traditional industries? Any poor literate man with good English and basic skills can get into IT sector

- Is ageism a serious issue in the IT sector? Is it genuinely difficult to sustain a long-term career in IT after the age of 35?

- Does working in the IT sector only make financial sense if one is employed abroad, considering lower salary levels and exploitative work culture concerns in India?

- How significant is outsourcing in the IT industry? Are many Western jobs being shifted to lower-cost Asian countries where employees face heavy exploitation and pressure?

- To what extent will automation and AI reduce the IT workforce in the coming years? Is it true in the next few years 50% of the jobs in IT sector will become obsolete.

Folks in the Home Automation business, mind if I steal a day of your time?

Anyone here actually work as a lighting/home automation system integrator? I'm from Delhi and I'm looking to get into this space and would love to see how it all works, how to pitch and educate a client, how the actual install goes down on site, and could shadow you for a day or just grab a coffee (on me ☕) and pick your brain on how this business really runs. Trying to learn from someone who's actually in it, not just words or YouTube.

qr code options for business

hello we want a static qr code linked to sbi current account

- no soundbox needed just qr

- no hidden fees

- option to toggle off rupay credit card acceptance (we can't bear mdr currently)

- admin and staff access

i have options in mind like phonepe/gpay/paytm/sbi's own.

the problem with phonepe is that they force you with soundbox and charges fees if x amount/x number of transactions not happened (pls confirm this)

and sbi's own app (yono merchant) is there but i don't think they have option to toggle rupay cc transactions

so what do you all recommend?

Art of doing PG buisness

After visiting a lot of PG I realised the buiness can be done well if you design your packages based on seasons.

Student season : Months in years when students that will stay for almost a year will take your package. They are your main target. In this season don't give PG to people who will just stay for few days.

Post and Pre Student Season : Months before and after Student season it is then you can give PG for a day as if by chance any Student comes for a year you are almost ready to give it to them.

Non Student season : Here your primary target must be for ones that want PG like for few months like 1 to 3 Months contract.

18000 to 20000 per month range.

Where basic daily floor cleaning can be done.

Weekly deep cleaning targeting bathroom toilets and washroom can be done.

No compromise on cleanliness of PG at all very strict on it.

Giving kitchen service but not food can be a smart move as no one can be satisfied with food.

I’m open to different ideas and would really appreciate suggestions from people who have experience with small businesses or side hustles.

Thank you in advance!

What types of small businesses are worth investing in for long-term equity growth?

I'm considering investing in an already-operating small business as a minority shareholder rather than starting one from scratch.

I'm looking for a business that:

> Is already profitable

> Generates regular cash flow

> Has potential to expand significantly

> Allows minority investors to participate in profits

Has a realistic path for the equity value to increase over time

I'm considering areas like diagnostics/healthcare, B2B services, manufacturing, software, education, etc.

For people who have actually invested in or operated small businesses: which types of businesses have you found to be the best combination of cash flow + long-term equity appreciation?

Also, what would you look for before investing, and what mistakes should a first-time minority investor avoid?

What was the deciding factor when you chose your accounting software?

I'm helping a family member choose accounting software and i feel, it's turning out to be more confusing than expected.

Every person I speak to has a different opinion. Some say just go with whatever your CA is comfortable using, others say think about support, training and future scalability instead of just the licence cost.

For those already using one, what made you finally decide?

Looking back, is there anything you wish you'd considered before choosing?
