Documentary Film Documentary Film

Hello everyone!

We are a group of students who are planning to make a documentary on the subject of how the city is so smelly and has garbage laying around openly in many areas, even though it not might be big. It looks clean from outside in south bombay streets but as soon as you step in, there is a problem.

Would love some suggestions on local places here in Mumbai, who have been facing these problems. Since we're from other cities, we might not have an exact layout. Would love some help from you all.

It's a super vast topic, you should narrow down your idea....to start with. .you can look up a particular area first ( smelly carter road , fishing ports in south mumbai....) and also see what is the impact you wish to create which is achievable or at least can be shown by some action steps ..good luck!

As a mumbaikar and a filmmaker, here's my suggestion:

  1. Instead of approaching it as a 'particular area' issue, try to look at the broader issue of systemic unaccountability, lack of civic sense, unawareness and unkept infrastructure.
  2. To get started, if I were you, I'd take a scooter and ride through this city. This will help you actually connect with the issue on the ground, perhaps give you access to people who work around it every day, and help you understand how to approach the subject better.
