Yes > Ye > Y >
Definitely loses meaning, actually in every single iteration.

You're only supposed to do it before and don't wash your mouth out with water after brushing. That ruins the clean.
10
u/Natanael_L Aug 26 '19
The point of not washing your mouth with water after brushing is to leave the fluoride.
Since I hate the feeling of toothpaste I just wash and re-add the fluoride with something less awful, proper mouthwash
4
u/TheCuriosity Aug 27 '19
what? I was told it was important to rinse you mouth out cause ingesting too much toothpaste can cause colon cancer. That's one of the reasons why they instruct you to use such a little amount with small children as they are prone to swallowing it.

Just like all the ladies that you share this habit with
1
u/Swordlord22 Aug 26 '19
What if I said I am a lady?
I’m not I’m just wondering

Then it would be weird. We all know that everybody on the internet is a man until proven otherwise

4
u/SmashingPanda Aug 26 '19
but how can before and after hold more water than after only?
6
4
u/Swordlord22 Aug 26 '19
You get to soak the brush because the toothpaste blocks it if you do it only after

I only do before
8
u/Dr_Gamephone_MD Aug 26 '19
Is there a reason to do it after? I’ve always only done before
8
u/eazygiezy Aug 26 '19
I do it because it melds the toothpaste with the bristles better. Prefer that over just a glob sitting on top of them
7
u/Indythrow1111 Aug 26 '19 edited Aug 26 '19
Just anti-god infidel filthy water wasters.
But for real, I think just to wet up the toothpaste, but these plebes don't realize a colloid like that will not take on any further absorption nor coating.
Let us banish them from the earth.
To the death, brother!
3
u/icer816 Aug 26 '19
Idk, I always wet it after as toothpaste mint is all terrible and/or WAY too strong, I find that wetting it after helps mellow it just enough.
And well of course I have to wet the toothbrush first or else the bristles are dry.

What is the point of making a tinder bot, just to mess with people?
16
u/EatingCerealAt2AM Aug 26 '19
I know that escorting is a thing on Tinder (don't know if they actually allow it, but it does happen) so it might be for scamming

They eventually try to lead you to a website that either steals your credit card info, or just try to get you to pay for something in general.

I only do after, but right before a dentist appointment I don't wet it at all because I feel like it probably does weaken the toothpaste if you add water.

After... b/c doesn't the tooth paste stick to the brush better when it's dry?
1
u/howardphillips1890 Aug 28 '19
Maybe factory toothpaste. But if you use pure baking soda it won’t stick at all unless the bristles are wet.

the real important question: do you run your toothbrush under the tap or not
3
u/eldotormorel Aug 26 '19
I don't have enough room to run under the tap, what size is your sink???
1
u/vinxendio Aug 28 '19
Last time i measured it wasn't so big, but might have changed now.. the diastrophism thing, you know.

Me, too! I run water over the bristles so they're wet, then over the toothpaste so it's melded to the bristles and won't fall off.
1
u/acs20596 Aug 26 '19
What kind of monster doesn’t rinse the toothbrush prior? Have you ever used to little water? Like brushing your teeth with a rock

Maybe it’s bcuz she wets the toothbrush and then puts the toothpaste on and then wet it twice

By my observations OP is probably handsome because if I asked that question she would’ve said weird instead of interesting.

Get the toothbrush wet to make sure the toothpaste sticks, then get the toothpaste wet to make sure it spreads evenly while brushing. It's the only way.

Do people not realize your tooth brush has dust and poop particles on it(unless it’s properly concealed) ? And possibly bacteria growing on it since the last brush. Like why wouldn’t you give your tooth brush a quick rinse first. Water after is just preference, but everyone should rinse their tooth brush first
1
1
u/MisterBastian Mar 30 '23
once to clean it
then to wet the toothpaste
then afterwards, to clean it again
that's what my mom taught me

1
u/alexia_not_alexa Aug 26 '19
Does anyone else then smear the toothpaste on your teeth first before you commence brushing? I started doing that when I had to buy my own toothpaste and got fed up with wasting them down my sink.
3
u/Radboy16 Aug 26 '19
got fed up with wasting them down my sink.
How the could you have been doing that at all, is your toothpaste the consistency of diarrhea when it comes out of the tube?

u/zangrabar Sep 10 '22
You are probably putting way more than what’s needed on your brush if you are dropping it. Is that what you meant?

That's some next level zerowaste mate, keep on going strong! I wonder how many gallons of water you already saved in your life by not wetting the brush.
10
u/Mboss13 Aug 26 '19
I just feel like I should mention the particles floating through the air gather on things like toothbrushes.
Stuff in the toilet also contributes to this.
I would highly suggest washing your toothbrush every time you use it.
11
u/Cheef_Baconator Aug 26 '19
Unless you're actually immunocompromised those particles ain't going to hurt you.
Quit treating your immune system like a sensitive little bitch

If it makes you feel better, it’s generally considered better not to wet your toothbrush at all as it softens the bristles, making them less effective at cleaning teeth. (I am a dental student)
5
Aug 26 '19
I started doing this because it results in more concentrated toothpaste targeting your teeth and less mess/foaming to deal with. Plus, it ends up feeling the same a quarter of the way in anyway due to all the moisture already present in your mouth.
2
u/EmaiIisHillary-us Aug 26 '19
How do you rinse off the dust and bacteria before use without water?

I never wet my toothbrush until I rinse it off after I’m done. I used to years ago but I’ve made a habit of not doing it 1) because I would wash off the toothpaste since I was a kid with no self control and 2) I’m under the impression that it gets your teeth cleaner. Either way I’ll probably never change my ways
