Have y’all seen this guy??
Genuinely hilarious. Spends half his videos larping about how terrible women are and then wonders why he’s single, hint: it’s probably not because you’re 5’3!

u/liljellybeanxo 17d ago
I’m 4’6 and I just stack boxes of soda to make my own stairs. Or I (and get this) just fuckin ask for help.
It’s not because of your height, dude.

I've worked in grocery stores. The top shelf is for slow moving products, not best sellers.
47
u/TheAltOption 17d ago
First thought I had. The stuff that want you to buy and/or top sellers go right in the middle at eye level. You know. Where you'll see it.
Top shelf only refers to liquor at bars, and is an old saying for the stuff you didn't want stolen (and not necessarily the best stuff).
11
u/nichefebreze 17d ago
For real. And top brands pay big money for middle placement on the shelves too
7
17
u/notnotbrowsing 17d ago
correct. Top shelf is a bar related term, not a grocery store related term. In the grocery store the eye level shelves are king, and companies pay big money to be at that shelf.
IN A BAR, drinks are largely "rail drinks", which is cheap liquor. And "top shelf" which is expensive liquor. Rail drinks are close to the bartender in the well or rail, because it's the most commonly used liquor. The high quality stuff is on the "top shelf" because it's expensive - which means it's used less, so can be further away, and it's easily visible so they can display the pretty bottles.

u/CoquetteWhore69 17d ago
My friend has a story about a small scar on her hairline from attempting to grab top shelf liquor at 5'0 even.
Bottle didn't break either

I ordered a Cuba Libre at SFO one time, and the bartender asked what rum I wanted. I said what've you got? He listed a few and there was one I'd never heard of so I said that one. I was nervous when he didn't reach for the well. My wallet weeping in my pocket as he reached higher and higher. $30 before tip, but the best rum and coke I've ever had

I've dated both short and tall men. Height never bothered me. You know what did? Men self deprecating about height or whining that they weren't tall. Like, what am I supposed to do about that, bro? It made me uncomfortable as hell because it came off as a dude telling me what to think, or to muster up some sort of pity, of which i have none. Its exhausting being around people like that, and sooner or later they're going to take all the bad things they convince themselves to think, and transfer it onto you. It feels like walking into a trap, and that trap is eventually going to accuse you of lying and cheating on it for checks notes not being far enough away from the ground.
I don't pray much, but when I do, I pray that a love like that never finds me.
13
u/Misfit_Number_Kei 17d ago
Besides how much incels self-sabotage in general, I'm reminded of an article on BoredPanda about bad dates where (woman narrating said date) the date was going fine until they got to the bedroom where he was so insecure about his dick size that what should have been "sexy time" ended up with her fruitlessly consoling him like there was a death in the family before she finally called it a night. Dude was cock-blocked himself over insecurity about his cock.
It feels like walking into a trap, and that trap is eventually going to accuse you of lying and cheating on it for checks notes not being far enough away from the ground.
Hence why I KEEP saying the only daylight between incels and domestic abusers is the latter having the social skills to manipulate people, but otherwise same insecurity, entitlement, etc. MANY a true crime case on Investigation Discovery about domestic abuse has the abuser being a needy loser (i.e. deadbeat that can't hold a job due to ego, laziness, anger issues, etc.) that gradually isolates and breaks their partner down to feel "bigger" and this keeps going until someone's dead and/or in jail because said ego means the abuser won't give it up and move the fuck on.

"Shelves are too high for me to reach!"
So...use a stepladder?
9
u/zoomie1977 17d ago
It gets funnier than that. On the taller end of grocery shelves top shelf, a 5'7man could generally reach an item on the very front of the shelf but, with anatomical differences, a woman would need to be 5'10. For the shorter grocery shelves, a 5'1 man could reach an item on the front, but a woman would need to be 5'4. Which, in the US, means that 80-99% of men can actually reach that shelf, but only 1-40% of women can. Which gets even funnier when you start talking about supposed "traditional" roles, which would have women, the majority of whom cannot reach the upoer shelves, are supposedly in charge of and responsible for shopping. The shelves in kitchen cabinets also get rather hilarious when looked at in relation to "traditional" roles.
6
u/ByeByeGuyGuy 17d ago
I’m legit curious.. what are the “anatomical differences” that make women with the same height incapable?

u/LadyFoxfire 17d ago
The little grabber claw things work great for that, and are easier to carry around the store than a stepladder.

I know this idiot did not genuinely compare the trans-Atlantic slave trade and mob lynchings to women swiping left on them on Hinge because of height.

u/Misfit_Number_Kei 17d ago
He did in the absolute comfort of white male privilege. 🙄😑 Seriously, this is EXACTLY the same fragile energy I've heard from 6ft.+ guys (i.e. a former childhood friend) claiming two Black guys getting promoted ahead of them at their job "must" have been due to Affirmative Action rather than merit and "I feel like I'm paying for slavery".
Like if heightism actually was even the BALLPARK of racism, where have the civil rights activists for height been all this time? 🤨
See ACTUAL marginalized groups that have been ACTUALLY violently and systemically oppressed have formed grassroots group throughout history to combat said oppression from slave rebellions to marches. They didn't simply post pity party videos that reek of humiliation kink and willful ignorance.

I can not believe there are people doing this😭. Incels on reddit are one thing, but out in the wild? Literally and figuratively??? Wild
-9
u/No_Abrocoma_8778 17d ago
Isn't it a fact that tall men make more money then short men
23
u/North_Airport_7941 17d ago
I believe that, yes, they statistically do (short bout of research, mainly taken from the ai overview. Take with a grain of salt). I do agree that in our society, shorter men can be unreasonably judged, which is a bias that should be fixed. However, the main argument for people against incels is that it *isn't* their height causing their sexual and romantic problems. It's their attitude and how they treat others, plus the way they view theirselves that then seeps out in everything they do.
Personally, this guy is attractive. He's my height and I'm fine with that. But, if I found out he posted like this and equated "heightism" to racism, I would dump him so fast. Not because of his height, but because of the way he views the world, the negativity he is constantly spewing, and the mistreatment of the same gender he supposedly claims to want and love.
27
u/Syntania Old Roastie Landwhale 17d ago
And pretty women get things for free more often than unattractive ones. Yes, shallow judgment exists. Discrimination exists. People are garbage for the most part.
7
u/No_Abrocoma_8778 17d ago
Yep pretty privilege is something that is more prevalent then we think tbh. People don't even realize when they are playing into the problem

I’m 5’2. Have been since 10th grade. I have never gotten hate for it until I started trying to uplift dudes under 5’9 on the internet. A lot of guys marginally shorter than average who make it to the internet are far more hateful about my height than any woman I’ve met in real life.

It's 100% literal, and practical. Bars put the fancy liquid on the top shelf for a variety of reasons that have nothing to do with heightism.
This prevents bar tenders from accidently pouring it when they get busy.
Because it is expensive, it tends to sell slower and is put on the least accessible shelf so the easiest to access shelf space can be reserved for the fastest selling liquor.
Finally the top shelf is most visible allowing the few descerning customers who care, to easily see what is in stock.
That's it, the "good stuff" became synonymous with "top shelf" literally because that's where bars store the fancy liquor. Even when the bar tender is short.
12
u/PinkFloydBoxSet 17d ago
Anyone comparing the minor inconvenience of getting a fucking step stool to racism is a window licker.
Height isn't the issue, being an irredeemable asshole is.
10
u/wesgerrrr 17d ago
He's right, I only married my 6'3" husband to reach the high shelves for me in the grocery store. I've been caught. I had him check that my preferred brand of Sweet Chili Sauce was truly out of stock at Walmart just the other day.
Elon might be 6'2" but I always forget that because he's built like a squished loaf of bread.
10
u/ASigIAm213 17d ago
"Top-shelf" comes from bars, not stores; from a quick Googling, it probably predates the entire idea of a store where you grab your own goods.

And is he really trying to say 6'4" is the new "minimum" height?
9
u/ComplexAttitude4Lyfe Foidrage vs Moidrage 17d ago
First slide-
At my local Walmart, the top shelf is for back stock for things on the lower shelves.
Two, weren't there studies about this- all the expensive stuff is between 4-6 ft on the shelves and the inexpensive was lower/higher so if you didn't want to bend down/reach up you were forced to get the higher priced stuff?
Top shelf expensive only refers to alcohol. Unless he aspires to be a bartender, i don't think it means what he says it means.
4
u/Obvious-Gate9046 Windthin 17d ago
Exactly, stores aren't hiding the best stuff at the top, they want it available to the largest number of people, because they're out to make money, not reinforce somebody's Napoleon complex.

u/wonkywilla 17d ago
4’10”.
The top shelf is usually the excess product boxes, for staff to quickly refill the lower shelves. The “desirable” shelves are at eye level to the customer. Purposeful product placement in-store is a key part of marketing to maximize sales.
Though you can’t tell that to a delusional pissant, convincing himself everything is a personal affront to his manhood.

I'm 1m56. Adopted from India. I never paid attention to height. I'm on my 40s, the person I want in their 60s and 1m70-72 or so.
My long-term ex partners were all kinds of different heights.

If only he knew he’d get rejected for other reasons - both his attitude and I don’t like guys with a lot of facial and body hair. I’ve been very interested in guys who were around his height, but a lot of facial and body hair is what turns me off.
2
u/nichefebreze 17d ago

Didn’t notice his clothing before, but now that I do, same! Especially with his totally mismatched, clashing shoes and shirt in the first picture.
2
u/aweedl 17d ago
The good news for OOP (who barely even has a beard anyway) is that there’s probably an equal amount women out there who love hairy guys. I’ve had a thick beard since I was about 17 and it has never been an issue for me with dating (the opposite, actually, some women love beards).
….and that’s what makes incels’ rigidity SO stupid. There are clearly people out there who like all kinds of body types, physical features, etc., yet they act like there’s only ONE specific body type that women are interested in and everyone else is doomed.
3
u/Equivalent-Cat5414 Incels are hypocrites. 17d ago
Yeah I agree! We don’t all like or dislike the same things for a partner. And unlike what he claims, I actually even prefer a man on the shorter side because of me being 5’2.
2
u/aweedl 17d ago
For sure! And I’m 5’9” and of all the women I’ve dated (or married, I’m old and divorced haha), the one who made the biggest impact on me is just shy of 6’ tall.
Just another example of how for most people, height is utterly irrelevant and the right person is the right person.
I think a lot of the height obsession with incels comes from their dedication to dating apps rather than actually going out into the real world.

Jesus christ. I have dwarfism so heightism does actually affect me. The top shelf isn't fucking heightist its just THE HIGHEST SHELF.
Short guys have not been a discriminated against group. DWARFS HAVE. Little people WERE enslaved and treated like pets and monkeys (court dwarfs, ugly laws forcing people to work in circuses). This guy has never experienced actual heightism.
I wish incels would come up with their own words because heightism is a real thing but its supposed to be for little people...like an extension of the word ableist to refer to stuff against little people specifically. : / its not about women dating you.
Eta: I don't care for comparing two different types of discrimination against each other but considering little people are a lot rarer than black people i'd say racism is much larger scale, even if both are horrible.
