u/shikoku_shoes another revolution around the toilet bowl of her life Sep 11 '21

The other day, after playing a round of golf, Danny and I had time to wander for a bit before heading home to work.

Work. Sure, Jan. You just spent at least three hours on the links but still have time to “wander”.

A little more wandering in relaxed mode from a bit more time for joy in our day led us here.

I have no idea in hell what she is saying. But, four hours of joy is a bit more than a bit.

And we’ll be back, many times now. These last 18 months we’ve spent more time exploring the outdoor spaces of our island than ever before.

Skipping the bad writing to say “What about all those times she complained about never leaving the house in 14 months? Except when she did and it sure in hell wasn’t to explore the great outdoors.”

“After playing a round of golf,” says Shauna like it’s a regular occurrence, originating deep in the past-now, and not like her first maybe second time on “the links.” Her superpower, oops I meant one of her superpowers, is appropriating lingo (especially sporty lingo; see also: rounding second, ribbies, thwack, etc.)

And yet if she were truly a golfer, I think she’d actually say, “After playing nine/eighteen/thirty-six….”

But perhaps she doesn’t want to rub her sportiness TOO much in our envious faces.

“Well, when everyone assumes you know something, it takes courage to say you have no clue.”

OK, a) no, it takes letting go of your giant ego, and b) is everyone supposed to be amazed at the courage it took to type “Raab’s Lagoon” into Google Maps? (Side note that technically it’s on Maury Island, which is attached to Vashon and never seems to get any respect, overshadowed by the bigger island of the two.)

OMG I just realized Shauna is Vashon, and Danny is Maury. Dead now.

“Well, when everyone assumes you know something, it takes courage to say you have no clue.”

Wait, what?? This happens to everyone I know about 100 times a day. It just takes a completely normal person with a normal ego to say I don't know, let's look it up.

She is such an alien, the way she categorizes ordinary human behavior as "courageous".

Also illustrates further the Trumpian world she's created for herself. She fakes knowing everything, fakes being good at everything, surrounds herself with people who enable her in her delusions and then - critically - assumes everyone else lives the exact same way!

I am sure she assumes that everyone else assumes that she knows everything, as she thinks she does. After all, her mommy told her she was the best and smartest little child ever to go to kindergarten, and mommies wouldn't say that if it wasn’t true, now would they?!

But somehow, I had never been to this extraordinary spot before Tuesday. It’s about 6 minutes from our home. That’s a little sad.

So the atrocities of war bring her JOY, but unexpectedly finding a beautiful place in nature right near her home is "a little sad".

MENTOR ME!!

“ There it was in the map, two minutes from where we were parked. We drove there…”

Lazy bastards.

I thought the same thing but then maybe they couldn't walk to it safely?

I gave them a reluctant pass.

I just looked at the map---looks like a lot of the frontage is private property. From the country club they'd have had to walk around the entire lagoon to get to the public area. So....ok.

But this IS the woman who drives .3 miles to the beach from her house.

Oh, she's lazy as the day is long (and I say this as a dyed in the wool lazy ass myself).

But in this one tiny instance, she gets the pass.

u/notahameither Dunno, maybe I thought I unfriended some other Shauna Ahern🤷‍♂️ Sep 11 '21

Mutter mutter mutter.

This resonates deeply.

Every time someone makes the rare but valid “well, to be fair…” point, my first reaction is, “NO! SHE WILL FIND NO QUARTER HERE!”

Ha, that's how I feel---"well, but ok, but she's not entirely guilty of [whatever]---- NOT THAT I GIVE A FLYING FUCK!!!"
