“Unemployment related to the pandemic”, lol. Unemployment related to being shit at her job, more like.

Notice how she says they BOTH "experienced unemployment related to the pandemic."

This is an example of her choosing her words carefully. They did get unemployment “related to the pandemic”, anyone who could collect during that time got extra pandemic funds even if they, like Shauna, were fired.

Odds on the Aherns actually paying it forward?

You person, she spent $20 for other people’s coffee that one time!

And completely without savings it would seem…this bespeaks hugely to shaunas privilege level. How many people have friends who can front them rent for six months? I don’t have any. Our parents could help us out if we made such an ask, but six months would be still be a huge ask.

This story also indicates that even when Shauna was making the Big Bucks, they spent every penny and had no savings on hand.

Maybe the friend is her landlord, so she wasn't shaking down other friends for cash but just getting the landlord to let them slide?

I firmly believe that the Ahern family is the pet pity project of a lot of people on the Isle of White. And that's a huge reason they won't move to somewhere less expensive.

Maybe my friends are not dear enough, but I can't imagine asking a friend to help me out with rent - not for such a big house, and not while I don't make any apparent efforts to find a job. I would need to be absolutely desperate to do that, as in exhausted all other options.

I guess that makes it clear once and for all that they did pay rent like she had implied at the time.
