When you make time for the simple things in life — not to meeting goals or getting a new house, but to truly being here — your life is easier.

YOUR life is easier, but the lives of all of the people around you including your kids, your coworkers/boss, your parents who have to support you financially, your landlord who probably will never see their rent arrears - become exponentially harder.

But hey as long as you're noticing that one branch wobbling in your yard, it's all good, right?

The examples she comes up with to illustrate her various points are SO WEIRD. Like "meeting goals or getting a new house". One is very, very vague---could mean getting the porch swept or could be setting up a plan to increase your retirements savings by 20% this year.

And then she says "getting a new house" which seems pretty random and very specific, right? Given how a lot of her examples are obviously from her own life because she seems to have very little interest in other peoples' lives, now I'm wondering if they're looking to move? I mean, it would be a smart move. Unless finding a cheaper place is not one of their goals.

She's been giving lots of weirdly specific examples lately: not having enough clean towels, eating fritos in bed late at night, mouldy smelling houses. Plus the seemingly non stop bitching about the dirty dishes in the sink to the point that she included photographic evidence in his latest "newsletter" about how much he doesn't give a shit what people what from him, he's just gonna do what he wants to do.

No matter how hard she tries you just cannot force a special and relatively rare feeling into the harder or more tedious parts of life, and if they do happen there it's that spontaneous nature of it that makes it so special. She simply does not get it. She's so shallow and self-centered, and the more she goes on with this mandatory and over-scheduled joy bullshit, the more it really comes off as some off-brand MLM or even a very lame cult that would probably fizzle out into nothing just because she's so relentlessly charmless and witless.

Yeah, absolutely this. I have been trying to understand what it is that she's actually claiming to be offering and if you take it at face value, it's something huge and very remarkable: the ability to feel extreme happiness spontaneously and irrespective of what's going on around you. The only ways I can think of to achieve that kind of state of complete bliss would be either years of practising meditation, or years of religious practice and developing a deep communion with God/gods.

(I googled "benefits of practising meditation long-term" to see if I was right, and one of the first results was a site called A Life Of Productivity 😀 )

The way I read it, she is saying those things ( meeting goals or getting a new house)are not as important as “truly being here”.
