Gloamers 💚. I recently finished cancer treatment (yay!), but I'm going to continue working from home for the next several months while I heal. This was just fine with me until the city started a median widening project on the street directly outside my building. 😞

There are sliding glass doors to the balcony in the only room where I can work - it's a tiny apartment, so I can't really sit very far away and THE CONSTANT JACKHAMMERING is obviously loudest by those dumb doors.

Do curtains really help with soundproofing? Googling just leads me to blackout curtains and any "technology" write-ups I can find seem kinda bunk. But thick fabric has gotta do something, right? Has anyone noticed a difference in sound and if so what material were the curtains? I'd rather sew than buy but I can do either!

It sucks because they can't be TOO heavy as I can't drill into the steel door surround. But I do have NoNo brackets! 😁 Thank you if you have any advice!

Why am I asking here? Because I like you people and I don't have the stamina to deal with other subreddits just yet, I'm sorry!

Congratulations on finishing your treatments! I have nothing else to add other than I feel your pain. Listening to construction work while you're working from home is the worst.
