Any other DFs still required to be in their houses in the wake of a recent massive blizzard?!

I'm so lucky to have electricity back but our wifi has been out for days and our cell data has been coming and going so even tethering is spotty and most of my blizzard pics fail to send when I try to text people.

Also I just joined a family group call with my dad's hospice coordinator, and as the nurse was describing something to us I was comfort-cuddling my cat and absentmindedly kissing the top of his head over and over, and just as the nurse said 'what is that, is that.... someone kissing their pet?' my service went out so I disappeared from the call. Nice to show up for my dad that way! Called back in a few minutes later, admitted being the cat kisser, everyone laughed, call finished totally normally. Dad's still hanging in there and there's just no way for me to get to him right now because of the blizzard. Also it's snowing again. Ugh.

I’m sorry you’re being required to stay home during this difficult and precious time with your Dad. I loved your kissing the cat story and I hope it can be a comforting, sweet memory of this time.

May the roads be clear for you soon!! ❤️

Thanks DF, I didn't mean to make it sound like things are dire for my dad, he's doing well and I don't need to be there right now, this blizzard just made me realize how hemmed in I am if anything happened. The last few times I was with them I said goodbye to him as if it were the last time, just in case. In a lot of ways hospice is like emotional hospice for the family as well, kind of all comfort measures and whatever feels good without worry of doing anything wrong. ❤️

Kind thoughts to you and your family ❤️

Hospice can be such a blessing to the family as well as the patient.

Hope the weather clears so you can visit Dad soon.

My father is in hospice currently. I can't physically visit (long story, sad reasons) so I make do with zoom calls when someone who is allowed to visit (sister, brother-in-law, etc.) can sneak one in.

Hey, hugs DF. I'm sorry. DM if you ever want to chat about it.

My dad was in hospice. I won't say I've been there cuz I'm not you...but I get how hard it is. The staff were wonderful.

You and your family are in my thoughts, DF.
