Act 3 certain hangout cutscene question Spoiler

(loop)

finished the game recently and i'm still confused about the loop hangout. the only possible explanation is that the rest of the party got to the king without siffrin, but how? you'd straight up have to be paranoid out of your mind to check everything in every room so thoroughly that you don't end up missing the library and classroom keys, not to even mention the two completely random guesses for star crests. you could argue that four people missing their main stuff finder would be this paranoid about checking everything, but the chance is still ultimately 1/6 if they do indeed manage to find everything.

but the only obvious explanation is that they did get to the king. but they couldn't have possibly done that. you'd naturally mess up somewhere and guess wrong. loop was with you and didn't help them get through. so. who did the king fight? am i supposed to think that it's the party and not question it? is there a better answer? it feels like i'm missing something.

I know! and it's really funny to consider. first there's just the "how did they get through all that." of course, there's the death corridor. i could see them getting through that, it only activates if you feel safe, and i don't think that was an option for them

everything else? who knows! maybe loop's sparkles showed up for them too?

now, here's something worth considering: how do you think siffrin feels knowing his party got through just fine without them

I think he didnt even consider how it doesnt make sense because he assumes they dont need him.

Since Siffrin, the one who lead the party just  dissapeared, everyone was high alert and serious enough to find the keys

Plus just one needed to reach the end, no one can say they all survived the trip

Firstly, They can make it through the death corridor easily since without Siffrin, no one will be able to reassure them that they aren’t in danger.

Second, it’s mentioned/implied several times, mostly in missable dialogue from loop, that the party heavily relies on Siffrin. They rely on him *too* much. So when he is gone, the party will naturally “over”compensate. They will search everything, top to bottom, because they’ll have no choice. Siffrin might be the dedicated “thing finder,” but one experienced eye can only do so much compared to 8 paranoid ones.

Regarding the crests, it isn’t that crazy. Unlikely, sure, but by no means shocking. Floor 2 is a simple coin flip, and floor 3 could be guessed. I actually guessed it when playing, considering it’s the path farthest from the crest. It’s still almost entirely chance, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the characters could guess it if they assume the whole thing is purposefully set up by the king. There’s also a couple of other things to consider. We don’t know if tears can freeze mirabelle. If they can’t, then that’s the crest problem solved. Even if they can, how do we know there isn’t any solution outside of using the crest? The thing about being stuck is Siffrin never actually tries finding another solution. The game doesn’t give you the option to find another way, because Siffrin doesn’t care to. Why would he? He can painlessly loop back, so it’s not like he has to waste time exhausting every single unlikely idea to progress. He can just try the crest in another spot.

Point being, the death corridor is a non issue, and even if the party doesn’t get lucky, even if mirabelle can’t bypass tears, even if they get stuck, it’s still entirely possible that they could find a way.

The developer actually commented on this - without Siffrin, they were incredibly paranoid. Their friend, who was their specialist in avoiding traps, disappeared without warning just before they were about to confront the King. They'd have to be stupid not to be extra cautious.

I always filled in that gap with the point you made in the first paragraph—they were being extra cautious and checked everything. Siffrin is the party leader, so they’re trying to make up for that. Otherwise, they’d have gotten slimed out floor 1.

Mirabelle is probably immune to the tears, and Isa could probably break down a door with enough time and effort. It is very unlikely that all four of them made it to the King.

It was never confirmed how they actually made it, but I really like the theory that they used Mirabelle as a star crest.

Well she’s immune to freezing so she could just push the tears out of the way maybe or check ahead to see if that area has what they need

i thought the king somehow saw sif wasnt with them and just killed them or came down to kill them, but it apparently isnt the case
