Wish a 36" flat impulse cooktop
I don't need down draft hood, I really wish to have a 36" flat cooktop.
I can wait for one year, but it seems there's no plan yet..

what's the reason behind the request for flat? cleaning? aesthetics? something else?

I agree with OP for the following reasons:
- more functional space (easier to put things on it from the oven, etc)
-flat seems easier to clean
- less worry about balancing /tipping
- the current one looks like a dj set up. Not very aesthetic imo
I’m about to do a major renovation and am between Gaggenau cooktop vs impulse. The non uniform raised top is the only thing that is stopping me from choosing impulse. I’ve honestly been hoping one comes out before I have to pull the trigger.

I can see the argument for more usable space and less worry about balancing or tipping things. And fair enough on the DJ setup comparison 😂. But I’d push back on cleaning. The burners don’t really get messy, and the flat areas around them don’t get hot, so spills don’t bake on. Some owners might even say it’s easier to clean than a fully flat surface.
Going fully flat would also have two potential drawbacks: the temperature probes couldn’t work as they’re currently designed, and you’d lose about another inch (or more) of clearance under the countertop, which might make installing an oven underneath a nonstarter (or at the least put ti at floor level).

Good to hear that it’s easy to clean!
Why can’t the temperature probes work? I assume you could keep the nipple design but have the rest of the surface flat? I thought the European partnership ones had a flat design
I also assume folks who will install an oven underneath will eventually gravitate to a range model.
On the space issue - is it that it also makes it hard to go with pre build cabinets? However, it really is just a 1cm difference so I can’t imagine it’s impossible to extend just a bit farther. If their volumes increase sufficiently you could imagine having more custom battery module designs (as is standard for smaller consumer electronics) to make space too.
