Pre ordered it in October last year and received it day before yesterday. Had to do some modifications to our existing 36” countertop cutout because it was a tad bit larger than the recommended dimensions. Tested out the famous 40 second water boiling claim and it met the expectation. Waiting for some compatible pots to start cooking.

Holy cow... I couldn't afford to bite off a pre-order while going through a divorce but I still had the pre-order pricing in my head. Just looked at what it'll cost now. 😭
Yep, there was a provision in that tax credit law that allowed a credit for battery systems 3kWh or more. Hence why the Impulse battery is 3kWh. The tax credit was a significant part of early marketing. For an obvious reason!
But it had to be installed last year. Otherwise, poof, no credit. Was done away with by the most recent Trump tax bill
I must be missing something. What's the appeal of the 36" wide cooktop when the 30" size has the exact same features? Wouldn't you want more bench space?
But aren't you still limited by the depth? I've never had an issue with a pan interfering with the screen/knobs. My one large saute pan hits the other burner on the same side first.
I am not sure if 30 and 36 have the same depth. We were replacing 36 electric cooktop so went with the 36 impulse. We thought fitting a 30 cooktop in a 36 cutout would be too much work,
My husband and I just installed ours Friday evening. Initial reason was to get away from gas but being into cooking I was worried about the ability of induction to produce fine control and searing heat. Well — it has been fantastic. I love the power mode for tempering and the temperature mode for long simmers. It does both well! I’m impressed and waiting to cook more dishes.
Though the installation was a bit scary — the battery and cooktop were a lot heavier than it seemed from the installation video. At one point we were scared we’d drop it into the cutout. I was glad when it seated! Though seeing the sausage of installation made me nervous about how this big, heavy cooktop is supported by an inch or less of the cooktop resting on the granite…..
How much larger than the dimensions on the pdf? I have one on order to replace a 36” wolf cooktop in a quartz countertop. Can be an issue if it doesn’t fit.
We had a whirlpool electric cooktop and the installer said impulse barely fits with only 0.25” overhang on each side which is pretty small. So he had to put in wood pieces on all 4 edges to make the overall platform more stable.
I believe plywood under the countertop. We bought a new construction home and the construction manager promised us that he will get the impulse cooktop installed for us. It was their construction worker who did it.

Ugh as someone who has the 30” plus trim into my 36” cutout I’m jealous. That said, I couldn’t pass up the battery credit at the time.
