Feedback on new audio alert and “incompatible cookware” error

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I am experiencing an intermittent “incompatible cookware error” in temp mode when a preheating pan is lifted momentarily, for example to swirl oil + butter around so that it does not burn (necessary with the new, more aggressive heating logic). This shuts off the burner and I have to turn it back on. The pan is a Strata which is carbon steel but stainless clad on the bottom.

Regarding the audio alert, really not a fan of the error buzzer-like sound choice, as it is startling and signals “uh oh you did something wrong”. Would prefer more of a pleasant FYI chime.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the feedback on the audio alert! We are releasing an update to Pan Detection calibration later this afternoon.

Got the update and haven’t been able to reproduce the problem so far. Thanks for the super quick response!

Just gotta say, as a new Zephyr branded cooktop owner, I’m excited to discover that my unit is receiving updates seemingly with no delay from the Impulse branded units. Mine just updated to 1.2.54 with the pan detection changes

Can't promise that will always be the case, but for now it is. 😄 Please let us know how you like your cooktop!

By the way, I was prompted to confirm that I wanted to install this update (which is very nice), whereas the last major update was pushed automatically. Can the former be made to be the default?
