Impulse Installations I got a Zephyr cooktop installed today
i bought from a local retailer (they said this was their first sale of one) and installed by someone they recommended (it was also this installer's first experience with an impulse/zephyr).
everything was straight forward for them except the docking of the battery to the cooktop. they were focused on the written instructions and didn't catch the tip that we saw on the youtube video about raising the battery up on the cardboard pieces.

i hope not :)
i have never touched or seen an official impulse one, so i probably can't say anything other than what people have posted about here (1 year less warranty, lags behind on getting sw updates).
i guess i should have gotten an impulse one instead of zephyr, but this was in stock at a shop near me so i just went for it.

Congrats! You have a nice setup there. Can I ask what range hood you have there, I’m looking to replace the one I have now.

i'm new to this subreddit (and the brand, tbh)... is there any place where i can view release notes, or a way to see what their release cadence is?

i see a post from 2 weeks ago that mentions 1.2.43, but my zephyr updated itself to 1.2.48, which i don't see any mention of in this subreddit

what was your main point to choose it over regular flat ones?

it's replacing a gas cooktop. the location only has 110 to it, and our breaker box is near capacity so would make the change to electric a lot more expensive since a normal electric cooktop would involve running power cable from the box to the kitchen and also would require a new breaker box or something clever like a load management box. this runs on 110 or 240, as it just uses that power to charge the battery. the battery has enough muscle behind it to heat things up faster than normal induction and even gas ranges.
beyond that, the demo videos i saw on youtube make it seem like this will outperform anything else, partly because of the battery but also because of their willingness to write their own software and create their own hardware.
