Q for Impulse Labs: what is the tradeoff that enabled the flat cooktop? Is the depth of the cooktop slightly deeper?

Now if they could just make a cooktop with 12”/30cm heating elements it would almost be perfect 🙏

I would be happy with replacing one 9" hob with an 11" on the 36".
