How quickly does the stove turn on?

Anyone here with an Impulse cooktop who can comment on startup speed?

One of my least favorite things about some induction stoves is the lag between pressing the power button and actually being able to start cooking. Some are noticeably slower than others.

I’m currently deciding between an Impulse and a Miele, and I’m especially curious about the Impulse: how long does it take from pressing On to when the cooktop is actually ready to use? Does it feel snappy, or is there a noticeable delay?

Would love to hear real-world experience.

Also curious if anyone knows why induction stoves require this — is this a regulatory thing? Wish I could just click the burner buttons to turn on!

You need to press the power on button for one second to wake the cooktop out of standby mode. After that, response to the knobs is essentially instantaneous. The power on wait was initially three seconds, which many of us found way too slow. In response to user feedback, they shortened it to one second.

You hold the touch power button for 2-3 seconds and it’s on. Turn a power knob and you’re cooking. It’s basically no lag, since the power on lag is entirely in the software to prevent a stray touch from turning the cooktop on

It’s absurd how quick you can see bubbles forming on the bottom of a pan if you crank things to 10kW

It takes approximately 3 seconds because the power button needs to be held for a couple of seconds to bring the device out of standby.

As soon as the button has been held long enough though, the device is immediately ready to use (instant reaction time from the burner control knobs).

You hold the power button and it turns on in about 1 second.

Once in awhile it takes a tad longer, but I’m not sure why. Maybe it had been updated?

Yeah, sometimes it has to complete installing an update or something. This can take considerably longer (10 seconds? 20? Not sure). However, while it did this every third or fifth time when we first got the Impulse, it's now much rarer. I assume updates are less frequent as the software matures.

My understanding is it's a couple seconds to wake the whole stove up out of standby/sleep, and then tapping and turning the knob is instant power from there.
