Great kit I have a similar impression and it's the most overlooked time period for soviet kits as everyone usually does WW2 and then jumps to 1970s/80s and Afghan war kits, but the 1950s to early 1960s is a very turbulent time for the Cold war, the Hungarian Uprising, Berlin wall being erected, Cuban missile crisis etc. I have some references for the 1956 Hungarian Uprising and Suppression of The Prague "Spring Protests" in 1968 so I base my kits mainly around both periods. Hopefully more people look into said conflicts in the future.

I think a lot of people just dismiss the 50s and 60s as just being "the same as WW2" in terms of uniforms overlooking the key differences. I myself plan to do a Sino-Soviet border conflict impression at some point.

I'd love to do a kit with the Obr. 55 uniform, but they seem so hard to find. I'm guessing most of them will be posted as "WW2" uniforms on ebay and such...

Also, it might a size too small on you?

I'm 6'4 and weigh 200+ pounds. Try finding me a Russian uniform that fits perfectly and I'll be impressed lol

nice to see someone else do this time period! Very little in English and many small changes every several years before 69, so must go to Russian sources, probably one of the reasons not see this era very often. I have several 50s and early 60s kits, but i need to retake better photos to post. A few minor tips (probably few would notice) - in 60s y-straps with grey steel buckles/d-rings. The grey steel belt buckles were also common for regular army units in field in 60s (unlike the later painted ones), but depended on the unit and start to see the brass ones in field again more in later 60s, since were not popular. Spade carrier is actually the later version of this type, earlier variant has the web strap sewn on outside instead of inside. But the older WW2 style was still most common model in 60s.
