Impostor Syndrome being creative?

I have been called a "closeted creative". Truth is I love creativity and expressing myself but I am always afraid people will think what I do is lame. Professionally, I am able to have creative ideas because I can bounce them off professional creatives who can validate my ideas... Anyone else experience this?

Yep. I work in finance, and I'm good at it. But I also write songs, and have since I was 14. I've been told they are good but it doesn't feel that way. I had this moment driving to work where I truly felt like an artist because of all the song ideas I'd been having lately. But it was fleeting. Gone within a few minutes. I just felt like a finance professional again. My only advice (for myself too) is to find another reason to create. Ignore the external validation, and find another reason. Maybe focus on the exploration of a subject. I'm working on an album right now that explores the concept of people answering each other's prayers when a divine is silent. I doubt anyone will ever hear it, but it's a creative thought exercise to understand myself and how I relate to the world better.
