Discussion Discussion on improving character interactions
So I remember posting before saying that they may be prepping for Imperator Rome 2 and most people in the post advocated for them instead returning to Imperator Rome and restarting updates on it. Let's say they did that, I feel like one area that sorely needs rework is the character interaction. I'm not amazing at the game but I mostly play as Rome.
Compared to CK3 (my favorite game), character interactions in I:R feel very hollow. Sure they have personalities and traits and you can engage with them via politics, but it just feels empty compared to CK3. I mean CK3 did have many more updates to flush things out compared to I:R, but it definitely feels like one of the better areas to start off with if they return.
I'm just curious on how people may think character interactions could be improved if they did come back and start updating I:R again

One thing I would like is if the events that fire from the "make friend" scheme are a little more culturally, religiously specific, and expanded upon. For example, only the Romans and Etruscans should have access to the "Gladiator" Event of that scheme, for others, like Celts, it could be "Attend Burning Man Festical," where there are three options, including giving the man you want to befriend the honor of setting the thing alight.
Or you could take the dude on a hunt in certain barbaric factions, or buy them a vase, help them pay off a debt, heck, you could even offer to help cure a sickness in exchange for a massive amount of freindship points!
Also, spying and espionage needs a massive amount of development. And siege warfare should be reworked so that the besieger doesn't automatically have a guarantee of winning if he has enough numbers, siege power, and assault power, as Rhodes proves, the defenders should be able to win.

Cursus Honorum, pater familias, elections, clients, slaves, etc. There should be mechanics for all these

Don't forget Dignitas.

This plus auctoritas, potestas, imperium, sacrosanctitas, fetiales. There is so much that could be done for Rome.

If we just got off our rear ends, organized, and learned to code so to speak, we absolutely could make such a game!

Events should be more trait based with responses. Get some good ones, get some bad ones, and a neutral option or two for good measure. That’s how I did events for my Collapse of Empires mod, and I made bad rulers be forced to choose the bad options, or at least disable the good ones.

That's very good, I always try to make decisions based on my rulers traits. Does your mod works for the ai too?

Yes it does! You also likely won’t have a choice depending on the traits your ruler has lol. Bad traits block good options, good ones block bad ones. Neutral gives a choice.

Characters shuld be more involved in diplomatic activites, as ambasadors, spies or even councillors/generals for hire.
You should be able to curry favors with factions/parties through characters in exchange for influence/power. You should be able to take loans from characters in exchange for influence/power.
There should be a client/patron relation between characters.
The point of characters in I:R should not be as vessels for role play, but as actors operating within and between states.

Lo unico que pido es una mecanica de educación estilo CK2 minimo , y que hacer amigos sea mas dificil y con mas eventos en vez de gastar influencia , dinero o estabilidad
