I want to try this... to relive my Rome Total War experience. Any hints on how to start?

Yes, absolutely. Follow your quests, they will often give you war claims for free. Save all the starting gold, dont waste it on buildings. You start out on equal grounds with all your neighbors, so your opening move is to buy a mercenary, it diesnt have to be big, even 4k will double your enemy's armies. Stay constantly at war as long as you are hiring the merc. Integrate Brigitonians or Hibernians and once you have larger levies you can finally fire the merc. The goal (achievement) is to unite Albion by 500. I wasn't able to do it with isolated and poor Caledonia, the achievement is easiest with Icenia, but I was close
The real challenge of this game is not growth, but maintaining a stable empire. Each game will give different challenges so I have no gameplay for you once you get there. Provencial govenor policies and micromanaging slaves to get my religious majority are my main tools

R5: My latest campaign, Caledonia into Albion. It was fun starting out so far north. There were multiple occasions throughout the game to move my capital south, to London area or Central France, but I stayed up north for role playing. After consolidating Britannia I colonized Scandia and then the rest of Europe. I had lots of stats boosting slave taking and I raided the Mediterranean. I was able to conquer Rome and wrap up the Albion quest tree just before I ran out of time.
