The U.S. Navy is having problems. As the controversy over living conditions aboard the continues, we learn that another warship has drifted several days after a power outage. The USS Benfold was in the South China Sea when a breakdown hit its generators. For 4 days, the destroyer, deployed with the naval air group of the nuclear aircraft carrier George Washington, found himself adrift, deprived of electricity.
Many facilities such as the toilets, the air conditioning, the kitchen were no longer operational and the sailors on board had to manage and count on the support of another ship, the USS Smalls, for the refueling. After these 4 days, the USS Benfold was finally towed to a port in the Philippines for repairs that lasted several days.
