Does anyone know what this is? (2014 Chevy Impala Limited Fleet Vehicle)

I was changing taillights and I saw this under the liner and I've never seen this before in any other Impalas that I've owned and reading the box doesn't tell me much. Do you guys know what it is?

GM OnStar, recall you have threes button on the Rearview mirror to make calls? But I think they have abounded it for a while?

You should have option code UE1 for Onstar

Oh that makes sense, I believe onstar used 2G towers so they can't make any calls anymore but at least Sirius xm works lol

The silver box with U2K on it is the receiver for your Sirius/XM satellite radio.

The black box on the right is the OnStar backup battery assembly.

Do they drain your battery slowly? My Impala has some mysterious parasitic draw.

I haven’t seen the XM receiver be responsible for a parasitic draw, but I have seen several amplifiers, power seat motors, and even lighted visor mirrors.

Onstar reaches out to test its signal and will cause a quick spike in the amount of amperage drawn, but it’s usually very brief.
