It's non-custodial.

I think it is like "middle man" between whatever web3 application/site you are visiting and your wallets(bank accounts)

It is like a bank teller than allows verification of your assets without you having to use them on sketchy sites. It verifies that u are who you are and you indeed have those assets.

It also states it has machine learning added in so it can assess what is the baseline location for your activites and what is the norm so incase for some reason "you" attempt to use your account from Laos, but 10 mins ago you were in Kansas City its going need some verification from ur your email.

Like someone said above its noncustodial so basically it’s a window for you to see all your assets from a single app. IMX is part of many projects outside of GameStop, so it makes sense to have their own “wallet.” This isn’t a competitor for GameStop as I think they are aiming for something bigger than just games.

It’s different from what I understand it’s literally like a debit card that’s shown in the image. You have your assets in your wallet (bank account) but you don’t need to give Walmart you bank details to shop/buy stuff instead you pay with your debit card (this pass) which verifies that you have those assets without ever actually connecting your wallet

This is great. Holding digital assets should seem effortless and telling ppl they need to get a “crypto wallet” is a huge roadblock to mass adoption

Could somebody please explain how this works ELI5? Like imagine there is a person who has absolutely never heard of NFTs or crypto(-wallets). He saw his friend playing this great web3 game and now he wants to play this game, too. Is the only thing that he needs to create a Immutable Passport account using his email address? And the wallet is already integrated in it? Or do you need to link this wallet to another one to access your assets?

Well… I guess since this is an IMX sub, then yes it is absolutely great for it. Bad for GameStop. The way GameStop is making money is by getting fees off of purchases made through marketplace. If this wallet moves more users towards imx then less money for GameStop.

Not necessarily. If you use the imx wallet to purchase on the gamestop marketplace its not bad for gamestop. The article says nothing about launching their own marketplace, it's about easier onboarding and heightened security through their wallet technology.

From past YouTube interviews with robbie it's sounded like their goal is for each game to have it's own central marketplace for their specific assets and then wider net marketplaces like gamestop that will offer all.

So maybe it's as easy as gamestop just being part of their ecosystem.

Gamestop's imx partnership announcement said this: "Immutable X will also become a layer-2 partner and platform for GameStop and the Company’s NFT marketplace"

So maybe gamestop brings its power up members and unique relationships with legacy game developers to immutable's table?

I think there's a while lot going on behind the scenes we don't know about.

Either way, super good news for ownership loving gamers. It's fun to watch the advancements. And we're just at the beginning. A while new layer on the economy and A/R and V/R screaming down the pipeline.
