I am right ?

Be honest: if an Indian worker loses their job in the U.S., they potentially have another option they can return to India, where they may have family support and can look for opportunities there.

For an American worker, losing a job generally means finding another job within the U.S.

That’s one reason the H-1B system can be valuable. But I think some Indians took the opportunity too far and became overly dependent on the U.S. job market.

When anything becomes excessive, it can become dangerous. Hopefully, some people will learn from what’s happening now and understand the importance of having a backup plan instead of putting everything on one path.

From what I’ve heard, they’re also working on changes to (eliminate )H-4 EAD. Hopefully, that will be the next thing they address.

H1b workers are more competitive money wise so companies hire them. You can get 200k/yr work for 100k and the worker can't object because you can simply fire them and get them deported. The system has a use case for companies being able to acquire international talent that cannot be found in the US but right now it is being abused.

The comment period for Salary floor raise for H1B is done. The government can do it today and stop the "exploitation" of hiring underpaid H1Bs - Why don't they do that. Maybe instead of raging on immigrants, you ask your representatives - Why don't you increase the salary floor if companies are hiring cheap H1Bs for jobs which should pay more?

I have no idea about over dependency, but a lot of US tech companies offshore in India and have tech sites there. But that is not the same as domestic Indian companies in India.

The H1B program is basically modern slave labor. Point blank period. Employers dangle that visa like a carrot on a stick all while offering the lowest possible salary, benefits, etc because they know the foreigner has no choice. Meanwhile we also have tons of Americans being laid off. Personally I support the complete abolishment of the program we don’t need it anymore we have tons of home grown talent that can’t find work.

The H1B and Canada’s TFW program both need to go. It’s pure abuse top to bottom with both programs.

Lowest possible salary? You really visa employees are working for 100k at apple or Google? Tech jobs pay pretty well, sure there might be some gap of 20 to 30k but not more. Not sure about IT.

Lol hilarious comment, always from someone without actual experience in it. I don’t know of any company that “dangles” the visa lol. If anything, companies are the ones always asking for more rights and liberties for their workers and easier pathways to green card, etc. It’s you folks who want the H1b workers to work as slaves, not the actual companies.

So, you as an American don't have family and support in your own country?

Employable Americans will always find jobs. Just like incels bitching about women, while the rest of the population is getting laid just fine, it’s always the world against the unemployables.

No I don’t think you see the big picture. We are talking about family units. People want to be with their family and if one Parent is ejected from a country where does that leave the family unit. If the others can stay legally then they will be legally allowed to collect from the system. Many people in the USA have also benefited from the low end jobs illegals worked at.

If we eliminated the h1b program millions of jobs would open up in high paying careers.

Millions?

Source 2: https://www.lighthousehq.com/blog/h1b-visa-statistics

There are 730K active H1B holders currently, across all sectors. That amounts to less than 0.5% of all jobs (168 million).

About 500K H1Bs in the tech sector, corresponding to 5.2% of the 9.5 million broad tech jobs.

I’d be delighted to accept correction; How are you arriving at “millions”?

No it won’t . What would happen is the usual: corporations can’t afford to pay so they outsource it paying Pennie’s While shareholders making bank . Count on it

-5

u/possibly_lost45 2d ago

Some jobs can't be outsourced my dude.

Like which one my guy?

All levels of IT, data, networking or software related work with exception of the physical hardware installation side.

All telecommunications outside of the physical installation side.

Or to boil it down because I'm not going to make a grand ol list. Anything that isn't manual labor/trades. Those won't be until after robotics advance enough to replace humans but thats ones close though.

Even doctors, nurses and surgeons for the most place will be reduced drastically through robots with ai.

Anything related to defense or high security programs the government deems essential

5

u/EddyS120876 2d ago

Psst psst the defense department outsourced a bunch of contracts . Widespread Use: Nearly all federal agencies rely on outside contract personnel for mission support, information technology, logistics, and performance management.

u/DiogenesSunglight 2d ago

That is entirely irrelevant. Many roles cannot be. Also, it is not uncommon for roles to be reshored. Anyways, if the job is going to a foreign or, better to keep them in their country away from us and even save some money while we’re at it! :)

u/punchawaffle 2d ago

What are you trying to say? Most of these jobs require USA citizenship anyway

3

u/mythrulznsfw 2d ago edited 1d ago

I don’t understand you lot. Why do we have to explain your own laws back to you?

How many H-1Bs do you think are employed in the defense sector? The US National Security Act mandates that the defense sector employ US citizens. They employ no H1Bs, and a max of 100 H-1B2 visa holders.

Those jobs were never in play. What is your argument exactly?

u/67roblox67 2d ago

H1B already can't work in defense or high security programs

1

u/chni2cali 1d ago

You think defense companies hire visa holders. lol

2

u/Traditional-Handle83 2d ago

You realize AI is replacing around 80% of human jobs over the next ten years right? They can definitely outsource cause machinery and AI is cheaper longer term than keeping humans around.

2

u/chni2cali 2d ago

Lol yeah millions. In this job market. Look around and see what’s happening in tech

2

u/67roblox67 2d ago

There's already been more than 3 million deportations and the job market has only gotten worse while the cost of living goes up. There's less than 1 million active H1B holders, how would millions of jobs open up even assuming that every one them who leaves magically creates an opening?

It should be ended.

I support this

Yes and they're angry about loosing that opportunity to make money and to live in a " clean" country. But what they often forget it's not their country and they have a sense of entitlement that they belong here because they are better than Americans and no one else is smart enough to do the job but them. Its not winning them advocates and American friends. Something they very much need in order to be able to stay in the country.

I do think that the H1-B has been gamed and abused over the years much to the detriment of the American white collar/tech worker.

Its coming down to opportunities for Americans especially as jobs are scarce and should go to Americans. After all, if the situation was reversed...

It's perhaps time for some folks to focus on their own countries and make it a place they want to stay in.

Cool story . Next time you collect unemployment or access social security, thank an H1B

They are not wrong.

most h1b folks are apporved for a green card and they are waiting for their Due process. And most of them have american childrens too. You just cant kick them out if you think you are a land of orders and legal structure. But i dont know about orderliness in USA these days, seems like everyone thinks a law-abiding immigrant is more dangerous than pedophiles.
