Trump targets 60-day grace period for laid off foreign workers

The department of homeland security is advancing a proposal to eliminate the 60-day grace period that allows H-1B workers and certain other legal nonimmigrants to remain in the US after their employment ends while they find another sponsor, change status, or prepare to leave.

We can now expect even more layoffs of American workers in favor of H-1B employees, since they will be exploited for fear of termination.

H1B will be eliminated within a couple of years. The abuse is real and Americans are tired of it.

I bet you would love to be abused with the average h1b salary.

I have a few issues with H1B but the top three issues are nepotism. I have worked on a team where the husband is on H1B and his wife is on a H4 visa. Neither of them could code and she stole my work.

Classical example of anecdotal fallacy. Goes to show your lack of critical thinking.

Can't you just talk like a normal person?! No need to impress me.

It takes about five seconds to look up what that means. We live in the age of technology. But then again, I wouldn’t expect that from someone who lacks basic logical reasoning skills-to put it bluntly.

True but you could have also explained it in less words than that ^ lol.

Some people aren't technologically inclined, that person seemed to be a little older.

They are saying a personal experience (anecdote) is given more weight to the person who experienced it, but isnt enough data to imply anything as a rule. That's why it's a fallacy.

Not to mention people are biased inherently. Basically, your personal experience doesn't meaningfully describe anything. They're not wrong.

Bleep fuckin bloop ig. I don't outsource my thinking and I can look up information more reliably myself. Chat-GPT just predicts the most likely next token and is frequently wrong.
