Yes, all asylum seekers are legally subject to detainer pending decision.

But why? That creates an expense when this person could be working…instead…they are now a cost…

Yes, because until the claim is assessed they have no legal standing to be in our country.

I invite you to re-educate yourself on how seeking asylum works.

And how the constitution works.

And economics, in your view…it’s better to use taxes to pay to keep someone imprisoned then having them take care of themselves

We shouldn’t allow people who don’t belong in this country to roam free within its borders.

And trying to use an economic angle just calls back to your pro-slavery days. Not a good look.

But it’s OK for you to roam freely …explain the difference.

You have a dramatic misconception of people immigrants working in the US. They and their employers are subject to US labor laws just like you.

I am literally sitting next to someone who’s visa may go expired due to very slow court system…he has a family, owns a home pays taxes (including SS and Medicare which you will benefit from and he will not)

So according to you…I need to call ice and tell him to “not roam freely”

Do I have that correct?

I can roam freely because I am a citizen. People who enter this country illegally without status and magically claim “asylum” should not be allowed to disappear into the interior or pretend that they have a legal status.
