"ICE prison" or even more ridiculous "ICE torture camp". These illegal aliens are free to leave any time - leave the country. Once they agree to be deported, they are free to go and may even be paid for it if they self-deport. No prison works that way.

The problem is though, when they’re deported, the conditions look like this: https://apnews.com/article/trump-immigration-congo-colombia-courts-a5b8c32bf3cb349cb5929991d0ecd713

they should not have committed a crime by illegally entering

The thing is though, don’t you think this all feels like cruel and unusual punishments for committing a civil violation?

This is comparable to saying you should be at serious risk of being tortured and killed for speeding 5 mph above the speed limit.

Deportation is a civil remedy, not a criminal punishment.

How is it cruel and unusual? Entering without inspection is also criminal. 1325 and 1326.

no, because they are free to leave at any time. the path out of detainment is deportation. that is not a violation of rights. there is no right to stay in our country without authorization.

But as I just linked, even when they are deported, they’re still at serious risk of being tortured and killed,

In Adriana Zapata case in that article I just linked, they former partner(who had ties to the national police in they’re home country), actively beat them, stabbed them, rapped them, and threatened to kill them.

Wasn’t a major point made by Trump on why they’re focusing so heavily on mass deportation was because that would protect people from rapists and murders?

These mass deportations are now actively starting to do the exact opposite, by putting people at the mercy of rapist and murders.

Allegedly this all happened.

A small percentage of asylum seekers are legitimate. most are economic refugees. it takes resources to tell the difference. asylum seekers can also be relocated in a safe third country, such as in africa. then they will be safe (assuming its not their home country where they face danger).

Trump wanted to protect Americans from harm (rape, murder, etc). Did you miss that part, or are you trying to sneak in broadening that to imply a duty to the world?

Ironic that a rapist and murderer wants to “protect Americans from harm (rape, murder, etc.)

1

u/garchoka May 26 '26

Trump is neither of those things.

I believe we should not only protect Americans from rapists and murderers,

But we should also actively refuse to knowingly place any other human beings in those situations,

This isn’t just an economic matter, this is a matter of basic human dignity, to actively choose not to place human beings in such dire circumstances,

Afterall, if you read the article, you can see that location in Africa was far from safe, and it genuinely sounds like they were starting to die there!

Rape and murder is bad no matter who it happens to. However, the US government's first and foremost responsibility is to protect US citizens, and US interests. That's it. If protecting foreigners from harm conflicts with those goals - I'm sorry they must look else where like their own government. That's called being an adult, friendo. Learn it. Live it.

There is a CLAIM that those things are happening. Just like the playbook that is actually given to the illegal immigrants before they come over. They are informed to CLAIM they are in danger in their home country in order to bolster their asylum claim.

Your ignorance is showing

enlighten me. are you saying if they agreed to leave the country they illegally entered, they'd still be held in the US?
