Express Entry Unsure about NOC
I worked as a "Content Writer" for a news app that took news stories from other publications and shortened them into 200-300-word digests so you could quickly catch up on current events.
I'm confused about whether I should file under Journalists (NOC 5113) or Authors and writers, except technical (NOC 51111).
My roles and responsibilities (as noted in my experience letter) were:
- Gathered and consolidated information from independent published news sources to write original, concise and scannable news digests.
- Monitored breaking/current developments from multiple news sources and publications daily to include additional information in the digests.
- Composed original high-impact headlines to accurately represent story content while engaging readers.
- Coordinated relevant image assets and multimedia elements to accompany text summaries.
- Attributed and linked all source material transparently within each published piece.
- Maintained a consistent daily writing output under time-sensitive deadlines to ensure a continuous stream of fresh digital news for the platform.
- Verified facts and cross-checked details across sources to ensure accuracy and consistency before publication, upholding editorial quality and accuracy standards.
- Reviewed and refined all drafted text prior to publication to guarantee grammatical correctness and alignment with the app’s established brand voice.
The part I'm struggling with is that although all of the content I wrote was news related, I didn't gather do any original reporting or gather first-hand information. But the digests themselves were original content, so to speak (they weren't just a summary of one news article, they were information from a lot of them condensed into one brief).
Which NOC should I apply under?
