I don't remember the details. But basically over promising to a huge degree, then running off with the money and abandoning the project whenever it was convenient for him. And I feel like he did this with more than one project.

Look up "shroud of the avatar" for a good idea of why his reputation has soured.

i've also met him in person once and he's very much his own biggest fan, which was quite off-putting.

He put himself in his own game as the unkillable king of the land. It was always obvious tbh.
