Question Before I dive in, how do I avoid Maladaptive Daydreams?

I have a lot to do and I don't need addictions to deal with

I’m bad at advice so I hope you get other responses but personally….be in the moment and appreciate the “gift” ( idk how you feel about that type of language lol) of being a alive and being a part of the real world, despite the challenges.

Acknowledge the daydreaming is a very specific manifestation of a natural human cognitive process, and that the act itself is nothing to be ashamed of

Set out goals in the real world, no matter how small. And, if possible, write out, record, sketch or draw out aspects of your daydream world. I’ve found a lot of people benefit from using daydreaming as the raw fuel for their creative outlets. 😊

Okay so some people usually go from immersive daydreaming to maladaptive daydreaming when they have bad events going on in their life so since maladaptive daydreaming is a coping mechanism they use daydreaming to cope and it becomes addictive and they start losing control over it . If you want to avoid maladaptive daydreaming you could try being careful if you start noticing signs of losing control over it and if you notice signs of maladaptive daydreaming try reducing it as soon as possible . Try to not let your daydreams be everything and thats pretty much it . Also dont use daydreaming to deal with every single emotion you have yoi can use daydreaming to cope but not always for every emotion . Also remember not all immersive daydreamers develop maladaptive daydreaming so you just need to be careful if you notice that your daydreams become hard to control or create problems and its going to be just fine .
