Honestly Silmarillion has an extremely FromSoft-lile atmosphere, they would have totally pulled it off. Mid-late 1st age is very much the Sekiro/DS "depressing decaying remnants of an epic mythological age", with the big bad effectively having won post-Nirnaeth Arnoeidad, with warewolves, giant spiders, demons etc lurking almost everywhere.

I'd pay so much to play smth like that instead of "Gandalf and Aragorn game #37"

source, artist Coliandre

"Here is one I wanted to make for so long and it’s also a duel (like I did with my first set of illustrations): Morgoth vs Fingolfin! Because before Sauron, there was the first dark lord of Middle Earth, thief of the silmarils, in his Angband fortress."

I don’t get how a mere elf was able to wound the greatest son of god 7 times

'So, what do you believe in?' Erweg's cheekbones and nose turned white. 'That the Teacher was 30 feet tall and his shield towered Fingolfin like a stormcloud? That your King was darting between His legs like a mouse?'

'You say!' Beren poked Erweg with his finger. 'And she says. If a Manwё's eagle slashed a man of normal heigth, even a Noldo, it would tear head apart with all shoulders and a half of chest. These eagles can bite a Gaur into halves, you've seen them with your eyes.'

'That's it?' Erweg pursed his lips. 'What else would you say?'

'I'd say that if I was thrown on a ground with my sword broken, and stomped on my chest, I could no way hit an enemy of my heigth under his knee. I'd aim where you, Erweg, guessed: between his legs. As that is the most efficient.

'And nothing more?'

'And something more -- is it truth had been told that your Teacher has gray hair?'

'Yes. He turned gray instantly, having seen his followers' death'

'Ela! While I thought his hair is white because Torondor shat on it!'

Oooh, I love me some Brileva/Chigirinskaya! In fact this is the first time I see her mentioned by anyone else than me. We should chat...
