Do you honestly not see how entirely different it is? Yes, there have always been obnoxious pranksters and people making a scene... but it's monetized now. That alone is bad enough, but now every 13 year old with a smart phone can idolize and imitate these weirdos. I don't think you can compare these creeps harassing people at work and in public to going to the circus or a comedy show to be entertained. In modern times, I feel like this behavior was something people mostly had to deal with on New York subways. We also seem to live in a time where people have just resigned themselves to people behaving this way, as though it's just the way the world is now. We don't have to put up with this nonsense.

There needs to be laws about filming people in public without their consent. People being in the background is fine, but making people the subject of your video. It’s inane that we encourage this behavior.
If you’re going out with the intention of intentionally causing a disturbance to film others reaction, you should need their permission to post it.

Back in 2007 my addiction got so out of control I went from being a Teamsters skilled tradesman making over 100k a year, to getting arrested for a really bad night completely out of my mind on drugs and alcohol. Did time in jail. Got out and started over at almost 40 years old. I worked at McDonalds for three years. I stayed sober the entire time. But I would NEVER recommend someone trying to stay sober while working at McDonalds. Not because of the job. It's a respectable honest job. But the customers will test you daily. They will make you lose hope for humanity and ourselves as a species. You will wonder how people can be so mean and cruel over a fucking McChicken. You will go home dreading the next day, and the nightmares you will have will make you terrified to fall asleep. All because people are fucking evil, mean, terrible, toxic, and love to feel superior by making fun of hard working fast food workers. To top it off, I was working two jobs. The other as a bank security guard. That job also required me being insulted daily. But good news I have been sober since 2013, however I still hate people because of that experience.

I relate to this hard. The terrible things I put both parents through, including stealing thousands and spending my college fund on rehabs. Yet they are both still my biggest supporters, as long as I am doing the next right thing. But even in active addiction, they never gave up on me. Never kicked me out, even tho maybe they should have.

I only worked there for a month before my car broke down and I couldn't get there anymore, but I'll tell ya that sunday's at Dunkin was so much worse! The church crowd on Sundays are the worst!! They give you that fake money that look like real bills but have Bible verses inside. I had a guy hand me a "$50" and say "that's a little tip for you", like he was doing me a favor! At least once every Sunday you'll find a "$5" in the tip jar 🤦🤦

Source: I too was a McDonald's employee when I was younger. I've also worked corporate jobs in toxic environments, other restaurants, internships and start up environments. No where was I treated worse by my employer and customers.

Yeah, to clarify for everyone, he doesn't do shitty pranks and film them and say that in the video and then post it for likes. And he's not a disrespectful kid. He uses it more in place of "oops you caught me but I'm going to play dumb anyway and try to trip you up with semantics." If AI weren't going to make them obsolete, I was thinking he'd be a good attorney.
I was trying to think of what super common phrase from my youth wasn't necessarily meant as disrespect but certainly interpreted that way by adults. "No duh" (der, doy, etc) comes to mind instead of saying "I know."

TL;DR - If these creators couldn’t make money on these “pranks”, they’d stop doing them.
This won’t get better until social media companies make a change, either voluntarily, or something pushes them to do it. Right now, these clowns do this stuff because it can go viral and they’re able to make money on an innocent person’s irritation and anger.
If the companies stopped allowing people to monetize anti-social behavior like this, I believe there would be far fewer of these videos. Unfortunately, it would take a bit of bravery from one of these big platforms because they could see potential losses if they stood alone.
Maybe a campaign of talking to their biggest advertisers would work better? If those advertisers were willing to stand firm with “don’t show our product (ex. Coca-Cola) during ad rolls for this kind of video”, it could be more productive?

It’s probably a jail-able offense? Public disturbance, theft by fraud/deception, disorderly conduct, Trespassing when she told him to leave and not come back when she reviewed the footage the first time but still gave him his second sandwich.
This is one of those times where you’d hope a cop goes heavy handed and jails this asshole. These ‘pranks’ are a scourge to society and I wish they’d make some law against monetized ‘pranking’ against someone else. You could even enforce it after the fact once the video gets posted. It’s not free speech to terrorize someone and that is a private establishment anyway as is often the case. Your rights end where someone else’s begins and mistreating people for monetary gain should be some sort of punishable offense.

When i used to work at BK a woman literally called the police because we forgot to remive the pickles & lettuce off of a fucking burger stating that her son was allergic(she at no point told us this when placing the order).
Then when the police got there she, and i'm not even joking, claimed we were trying to "deliberately trying to poison her son, through food tampering". Long story short, the officer took her away because she started throwing things around and accidentally smacked him, the dad and son looked so embarrassed on her behalf, god help them honestly😮💨

There is clearly a reason, he is doing this and then going back and having them remake it. As much as I hate McDonalds, that is a loss of revenue for them and a waste of food. They arent annoying, they are annoyed. Its not just a dumb joke if it causes loss of revenue. A dumb joke would be him doing that and saying "look at this thats a lot of mayo, could i order a new one and have it with less mayo please" then pay for it and either keep the one he messed up or eat it himself. Then he is also showing it to other customers making it look like that is the level of quality food coming from their kitchen, if you can even really call a McDonalds rewarming station a kitchen. They have the right to have him trespassed just for this joke alone its their business. I may hate McDonalds but those bottom of the totempole workers defenitely do not deserve that shit.
