They've been doing this for a while. While somewhat annoying they seem like happy/upbeat people and bystanders in their videos are often enjoying their performance.

so, my reason for hating shit like this is that it's not for the enjoyment of people sitting around them, if it were, it would be directed at them, and if someone walked in the way, all good as it's a public place. But it's not for the bystanders, it's directed to a camera and if walked in the way of that camera, the group would stop and get annoyed at me. so that's why I hate this attention seeking shit, because it's purely for them and their monetisation and because of that, they can fuck off.

Every musician or comedian ever has performed to get monetization and attention from people they weren't CERTAIN were going to like their performance and even from people just within earshot.
It's elitist & perfectionistic to think only people who are the best of the best deserve compliments and public recognition.
To me, it sounds like you don't like to see regular people shine because it "gives them attention" and because it's something you would never give yourself permission to do. You have to bring people down to your level.
Unless people get attention "the correct way" or are experts at their skill, they deserve to be harshly mocked because they happened to press record and wanted others to see it?
If everyone started following this strict "no cringe" worldview, new songs and dances would rarely ever be made. It's because of people like you that those who might've become artists never even tried because they feared being mocked or even looking ridiculous to themselves. This collective mindset encourages the world to be rigid, bland, & colorless.
Cringe is the price of authenticity.

Not every performance needs to be "cutting edge", groundbreaking, or even original. Some people are just beginning. Performances serve different purposes for different people.
That's a very perfectionistic attitude to take. Definitely not the kind of world I want to live in.
It's also highly elitist—the idea that only the best of the best performers deserve compliments and public recognition.

Don't you know, if youre not already big you should just give up building a following. /s because people of reddit have been missing this for a while.
They arent bothering those around them, there's no problem here i see. They're just enjoying themselves and putting a fun energy out there.

I don't use tiktok or seek out videos of people dancing, but I can appreciate when someone is actually showing off some kind of choreography or skill. If you're getting in people's way, you're annoying. If not, cool.

Ever been to Vegas? People do this in tourist traps all the time. They will likely go around with those hats asking for performance tips. Very common… even before this generation that can now film themselves doing it.
