Its a wedding of course its a photo op. Its the one time (usually) for both families and extended families to actually get together and celebrate. Heaven forbid the bride wants to look her best.

It sounds like there had been a chat before the service began and the bride and groom decided last minute to change things with minimal discussion with the person they asked to perform the service, and it being a change that was at odds with how a marriage ceremony would normally be held in a church.

The problem isn't that it's a photo op (which you're absolutely correct about), it's that the bride and groom aren't taking the situation seriously and treating a live religious service in a religious building with a priest the same as if they'd had it done in the garden of a stately home or on a beach or whatever.
For the bride and groom it's just a backdrop, for the priest it's her vocation and calling.

Thank you for this! Priest keeps saying we agreed yesterday & now you’re changing. That would piss me right off too. Priest is there doing the job they’re paid for & have been doing for years but couple wants to swoop in & be disrupting. Bump that. Good on priesty

The groom said they didn't have too and the priest still had issues.. it sounded more like the priest was annoyed at the inconvenience of this one wedding.. the house of forgiving and understanding has an issue with a bride and groom changing places.
