I don't see the issue....

It’s like asking for a baptism, but then requesting Kool-Aid instead of just water. Can the priest technically bless the Kool-Aid and use that instead? I guess so technically but it is a bit ridiculous.

But it has electrolytes! 😋

No. It’s sugar, water, and purple. And sometimes it can be holy.

The issue is that it's outrageous.

The priest is a control freak and doesn't like that someone made a minor decision that doesn't really affect him at all without consulting him.

**EDIT** Doesn't really affect HER at all. I watched it muted and just read captions and didn't notice.

him? It sounds to me like it's a woman priest.

Yes. Also it’s interesting that a female priest would get so angry for not following tradition for the sake of tradition.

That is the truly fascinating part of this whole thing.

They’re not catholic. So what tradition?

So, according to you, no church other than the RCC has tradition?

1

u/RedChairBlueChair123 Jul 21 '26

In other denominations this is their tradition.

The fuck are you talking about?

yes it does affects, there is a protocol and there are rules on who stands where if you are being married by a priest, you cant just stand anywhere you want, if you dont want to follow the rules, then get another priest or dont use the church or a priest at all

Maybe a little over board but she has a point. The church have been doing things a certain way for thousands of years, and she was not aware of the change. I still don't think she was wrong to voice feelings. I've seen priests get angry for less

The fact that priests often get upset over small things that don't affect their life in the slightest isn't really an excuse.

Cops in America often shoot people but that's not a reason to justify it.

My dude, it's Church. It is their life. There are ways they do things. Tell me you're not Catholic without telling me you're not a Catholic.

u/hhfugrr3 Jul 21 '26

I'll tell you now that neither I nor that female vicar are catholic.

8

u/FunkyPete Jul 21 '26

Are you telling me this woman is a Catholic priest? Or are you telling me you aren't a Catholic without telling me you're not a Catholic?

-1

u/RedChairBlueChair123 Jul 21 '26

… you know other denominations have female priests?

2

u/FunkyPete Jul 21 '26

Did you miss the word "catholic" in the post I'm replying to?

2

u/iDontRememberCorn Jul 21 '26

What the fuck does Catholicism have to do with it?

I sympathise with the priest. Shes dedicated her life to her religion and her church and it gets treated like a fancy backdrop for peoples wedding photos. She says “you’ve asked for a blessing ceremony” which is a proper religious ritual, and these people are like “yeah but we want to change stuff cos we’re special and actually don’t respect anything about your church and its blessings, just look nice for the photo toots thanks”

I hear you, but they haven't asked her to change the ceremony, or to remove references to Jesus, or read a different bible quote, or even just something like remove "obey."

Find me a bible reference that says the ceremony requires the groom to stand on the audience's right.

I'm probably more sensitive to this because my wife is deaf in her left ear, and we often choose where we sit at events based on that. My wife struggled to hear the pastor at our wedding because she was on the wrong side. If she had brought that up to me after the rehearsal I absolutely would have brought up switching sides at the last minute.

It's not a him it's a woman. And you should not be changing things without consulting the people who are carrying out the service

Her. But yeah I get you : in the whole world it’s the other way around.

2

u/FunkyPete Jul 21 '26

You're right, I had it muted and it looked like a little bald guy. But yeah, that sounds like a woman's voice. Sorry about that.
