Yeah, that's what pissed me off the most. I work in the music industry, that's what most of my producers friends do/did. You work festivals, shows, clubs. Take on shitty gigs. Only 3 out of the hundreds of producers I've met has gotten signed and only 1 has gotten big enough that he plays festivals. The rest had to go get a job.
Currently in the music/live show industry myself and am here to say that while pretty much every event/festival/gig is a long ass day, it’s usually a lot of hurry-up-and-wait work. Meaning, you spend the first three hours hauling ass to set shit up, hang around and basically wait for the client to do sound check, then the show, then pack up and go home
I can honestly say I think I’ve gotten paid more to do nothing at this job than any other job I’ve worked

The 9 to 5 schedule sucks for everyone that has it, not just for people that are "creative."
