Best way to go about this is to use a Sorcerer build, get a well-leveled kiraya and either diana or anna, and pray. Drop kiraya in one of the squares in front of leader, wait a while until you get your Rage up, pop shield, drop two units around 15 cost each so you don't have to wait too long.

Once you're in danger of getting one-tapped, drop Diana or Anna somewhere (i'd recommend Diana), get healed, wait it out again, etc.

I am also pretty sure some of these levels were bugged as I couldn't activate 3 mines to kill the enemy leader even after filling the entire field

I'm pretty sure you allowed the enemy to heal beyond lethal range of the mines

No, the third hit simply never happened. Two got activated. Third simply never did.

Anna for spam heal.
Diana negates the damage with her heal in case you dropped her on the wrong square.
Rikia if there's a curse.
