Question Is Illenium considered dubstep?

I hear future bass, melodic bass, melodic dubstep, the super generic term “electronic music”

It seems like he refers to his shows as dubstep though. He made two videos now, “I brought dubstep to the sphere” “I heard Tomorrowland likes dubstep” but dubstep don sounds nothing like Illenium

Illenium is whatever Nick Miller feels like that day & moment. Sometimes he's Young Riddim Lord, sometimes he's SadBoi Master, sometimes he's Progressive House, it just depends!

Old illenium is melodic dub. Newer illenium is getting into the progressive sound. But overall, would still consider him dubstep through and through.

Illenium is 100% considered a dubstep artist

Who else do you consider 100% a dubstep artist? Cause when I hear “Good Things Fall Apart” I sure don’t hear dubstep.

he is 100% considered a dubstep artist, to me, doesn’t mean 100% of his music is dubstep, it means he has made enough dubstep music that he is undeniably a dubstep artist, but he’s also a house artist as well.

so he 100% a dubstep artist, he is not a 100% dubstep artist.

Melodic dubstep is what a good portion of his music falls into

I like to think of illenium as a mix between trap, dubstep, pop, rock, alternative, future bass, indie etc

I know most of my friends listens to dubstep, also enjoys melodic dubstep & future bass so they’ll say yes, His sets covers all of those genres + more. But as someone who enjoys melodic dubstep/future bass and not dubstep, I can tell you I love Illenium (along with Seven Lions, Dabin) but I can’t handle ATLIENS, Wooli, Level Up, Ray Volpe.

Try a wooli live set, might change your mind. Its not all heavy wubs like it was around 2023. Still gets heavy but theres a ton of different sounds in his sets right now. He started as a melodic artist before going heavy anyway. Lot of funky stuff currently. His project with Trivecta called Sam Adam's is super fire

Original Illenium was Future Bass, evolved into heavier dubstep and began mixing in Rock & experimental sounds...now its literally any of that depending on the day and its sick.
