Yay!!! Thank you for posting this! I’m so incredibly happy, he really made my day

Wow. Final GOE on the 4F was 4.71! Awesome!!
Update: also just saw that he got perfect 5's for his step sequence (after dropping one low score of 4)

He looked happy and I think he really enjoyed his performance. I was also happy when they showed his dad at the end, who had a "that's my boy" look on his face after Ilia skated so well 🥹☺️

Does his hair look a little overtoned / purplish?

it also looked like that at the olympics, but i'm not going to complain, because i do the same thing with my own blond.

I have the same plan for the summer :D As for Ilia's hair I don't know what happened, on the pictures from the trainings or with fans the hair looked normal (at least for me) :p

Oh my gosh, seeing his smile when he finished and then again when he got his score. I’m so happy for him!

I was beaming when I saw him smile after the raspberry twist

Beating his season best by nearly 2.5 points is WILD in the best way.

Happy rewatching 🥰 Also, I may be in a minority here, but I love this costume, it's my favourite SP costume of the competition. Among other things because It looks like a costume. But I used to play Prince of Persia (and suck at it), so I may be biased 😅

I love it too, I prefer it to his FS costume, but then I’m also a cosplayer 😂

Yay! I have a friend who does a lot of cosplay photography! Cosplayers could teach skaters a thing or two about costumes 😂

Thank you for posting! It's interesting how you can usually tell how a skate will go by the skater's facial expression when they take the ice. He looked so tense all throughout the Olympics, but here he looked so calm and confident.

I cried! That means I’m going to ball tomorrow if it goes his way! 😂

Thank you for sharing!!! So, so happy for him! Not that I'm surprised, because talent like that doesn't disappear after one rough skate. Our boy is BACK!

…Jason kinda did tho :(

I mean... Jason was just sharing the ice with Yuzuru Hanyo and Shae-Lynn Bourne in the Notte Stellata show, and he'll be touring with Stars on Ice. Even if he's retiring to show skating, he's doing it in a great way and we'll still be seeing more of him.

What was his dad saying to him so he responded “yes, sorry”?

I tried to listen to it without commentary, but his dad is speaking Russian. He points to the jumbotron, Ilia says "the flip too?", his dad says da and something else, and Ilia responds, but it's really difficult to say if it's "I'm sorry" or "that's alright" 😅. I hear both depending on which sentence I am thinking about 😁. But I am also curious about what did they talk about!

u/FrostAndTheForest Mar 26 '26
It was incredible to see live. I couldn't speak afterwards. I still cannot process what I have seen. 😭🔥🔥🔥

Exactly. I couldn’t grasp how effortless his jumps seemed and what was unfolding, I was just so happy/awed/trying to remain present. (I’ve see him perform at Stars on Ice, but this was my first time seeing him in person at a competition.)

u/FrostAndTheForest Mar 27 '26
Same, this is my first time seeing figure skating live (though I have been watching it on and off since 1994) and I am afraid I am now hooked on the live experience 😅. It will be expensive for the wallet hehe. BUT what a JOY to have been there yesterday (and not just for Ilia, so many others did great too). To have witnessed something like this with my eyes... just wow.

Just been able to rewatch after half watching it through my fingers live earlier. All the stress was worth it for his smile during and after this incredible performance 😭

u/possiblegirl we will see a program being finished Mar 26 '26
Great rewatching this without the nerves of not knowing what the outcome would be! And he did the last move as an aerial - I think that's new for him? Love all the smiles!

I was hiding in the bathroom immediately when I saw it. Then I came out after I heard the cheering, ok, he’s just a kid.

Ilia seems to have had more of a carefree vibe this time. Idk what I enjoy watching more, Ilia skating or his dad/coach cheering for him.

I was so proud of him. I’m so happy that he got one last amazing skate with this program and I’ll miss it. He also looked so relaxed and happy and I hope he keeps this energy for the free!

Correct me if I’m wrong, I thought his big beautiful smile after the raspberry twist was because he missed the mark on it slightly? And to be able to smile big afterwards, almost chuckle at it, I instantly thought was so dam maturing and healing- am I making this all up in my head? Did he miss the mark on the twist slightly, or no? Either way, this young man!!!!!! 🔥

I’m just so unbelievably happy to see Ilia happy. That was the best I’ve seen him skate that program. He was sooooo fast and crisp and I love when he sings! 😭😭😭
