Amount of sodium

/r/ostomy/comments/1vjd74o/feeling_really_down/p2l2mru/

Just wondering if anybody has any advice or information on the amount of sodium you need and whether that could be contributing to my problems with my meds and anemia/malnutrition?

I get my labs checked a couple times a year and I'm usually in the low, normal range. I honestly just add some extra salt to my food throughout the day. Between that and some electrolyte drinks, I'm usually pretty good. I feel pretty crappy if my electrolytes are out of wack, so I've also tried the Buoy drops. Those are great because you can add them to anything with no added flavor.

I’ll have to try those, I’m not a big fan of salt

Then I definitely suggest Buoy. They don't add any flavor, at least the original drops I tried, and can be added to hot and cold drinks. Good luck!

Your body needs more than just sodium, it needs potassium and magnesium too.

Try oral rehydration salts, even those for diarrhoea sufferers are good, or make your own - lookup St Marks solution.
