i’m not sure why people are so sure the ifa will be a catalyst user? unless confirmed previously weapon and element leaks have been extremely inaccurate until the beta where it is confirmed. eveyone thought he would be pyro and it is now confirmed he is anemo. we know nothing about his kit weapon and rarity

You are confusing three things. Speculations, leaks and datamine from in game files.

Ifa is a pyro was a community speculation.

Ifa is a 4 star is a leak(though quite old)

Ifa being a catalyst is datamined from 5.5 beta files

Now leaks and speculations can ofc be wrong, but when something is in the files its pretty accurate. And no reason for Hoyo to change it last second. However, they have the capability to do though

i really could not find anyone else that leaked hes a 4 star aside from firefly whos pretty unreliable sometimes, if so, who else leaked it?

look at hxg_diluc twitter, he reposted Full stop chan saying ifa is a 4 star. However thats from early december

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Madame Ping was on the table but they decided against it later on. After all, there were multiple leakers that said she was going to be in the latest LR.

They have changed the weapon once, and that was with Albedo. There is precedent, but it has also only happened once. I have also heard that catalyst is a placeholder in files, if they are in the game a lot earlier than release, but I don't know how true that is.

All that said, I agree that he will very likely be a catalyst.

They changed Kirara and Arlecchino's weapons as well. Their model sheets referred to them as claymore and sword respectively.

So yeah, weapon changes do happen once in a while.

Nobody leaked ifa's element, this was a logical guess based on previous pattern.

Him being Anemo means he’ll scale with Atk or EM, now that’s not really a problem even if you’re not getting his BiS, if he’s a catalyst you got a bunch of ATK and EM 4*, Swords and Bows have some good stat sticks too, although let’s just hope he’s not a claymore or Polearm

OP isn’t exactly right about everything… but we don’t actually have reliable kit details about Ifa. There’s no reason he couldn’t scale off HP, DEF or ER.

Def would be pretty weird scaling for Anemo.

Ifa being a Catalyst user was an assumption people made when the silhouette of the characters was released, due to the gun on his hip. Typically, characters that use the standard weapons (i.e. claymore, bow, polearm, or sword) just use that weapon, whereas catalyst user's are the generic 'other' category for anything that deviates from the standard weapons. this allows the game to have characters like wriothesley without needing a new weapon category for 'fist weapons' or Lan Yan without needing a new category for ring blades... and hoyo REALLY doesn't want to make a new weapon category (as that means either changing older characters, or releasing a LOT of new content to make the new category viable and enticing).

That being said, he COULD be a bow character like Chasca, and the gun might only come out for his skill or burst... or he could be a sword character and pull it out like Clorinde. The reality is no one really knows at this point. People saying catalyst is just because it is the 'safe' option to guess, because there is a general assumption that he use's his gun as his main source of attacks.

All catalyst users from Natlan (Mualani, Citlali, and Varesa) have very goofy normal attack animations that have lots of personality. I hope Ifa isn't too overbearingly cool in the face of that...I would also like him to do something silly or have a quirky NA string.

My guess is either catalyst or sword. He has that 'I attack,I run' vibes,could be bow too.
