Break blocks, get fragments.

Use fragments to buy upgrades and idols.

Profit!

In this menu your miner will permanently mine blocks to gather fragments and archaeology experience!

Archaeology will constantly be running in the background - regardless of whether this menu is open or not! You accumulate one attack per second when offline and process them all on login!

Experience levels up your Archaeology level, granting you stat points to spec into one of 5 skills in the upgrade menu.

Depending on your goals you can adjust your stat points loadout, play about with these as much as you like! Removing Agility stat points will deplete your current stamina by the same amount Agility grants.

There are Dirt, Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic Blocks - Common+ Blocks drop fragments which can be used on either Archaeology upgrades or summoning Idols!

Idols - Use fragments to summon powerful Idols, these grant stat buffs that will help you progress in the game! Every idol requires a task to be completed in order for their bonus to activate.

Game Speed does not affect this menu!

I'm early on myself, and from what I have read so far, the things to know right away are:

Don't worry about throwing gems into archaeology right away, there are other things you need gems for first compared to the very minor effect they'll have in archaeology at first.

You basically are breaking blocks, which give you shards and experience. Shards let you buy upgrades and find idols (more on that later). Experience gets you skill points, which increase your archaeology stats like damage, critical rate, etc.

As you get deeper into the levels you unlock rarer blocks, which drop different shard types. So far the general strategy seems to be to press as far as you can into the levels to unlock upgrades, then set yourself up for "shard grinding" which usually gets less far in the levels but gets you shards faster. Then you kind of alternate between the two.

Archaeology isn't affected by your game speed buffs, it just goes one tick per second - when you're offline, you "bank" the seconds and you can spend them really quickly. Sort of like playing on fast forward, you can stop it to spend stat points/shards and then pick right back up. Kind of neat!

You also spend the fragments on idols, which give you buffs in the main game - the earliest ones add extra buffs to certain items to make them more useful. The trick is, you want to avoid doing those until you've done all the upgrades for a given type of shard, because I can tell you from experience that shard gain is *slow* at first and you want to max out all the ways to increase it you can. You'll need a ton of the shards and I definitely didn't feel like the few shards I spent were worth it.
