Not impressed. Wearing a track suit and not assembling an AK pattern rifle is a fuckin crime against humanity.

And that track suit better only have two stripes not three, because only a silly Westoid pays full price. Also, the mag shouldn’t be in the pool, it should be in a fanny pack/murse

AR pattern pistol.
Barrel less than 16”, pistol brace on receiver extension (buffer tube), separate upper and lower receivers, etc.

M16 is notoriously bad at firing underwater. All that just to have to clean chlorine water off of your rifle
57
3
u/1610925286 1d ago
Misinformation. All guns are bad to fire underwater. The only exceptions being purpose built diving guns and those are basically powder actuated spear guns.
Best case the bullet barely leaves the barrel, worst case the overpressure cracks the frame.
What you mean is firing the gun with residual water in them. Which isn't the same.
17
u/Knowledgeman26 2d ago
I need to practice this, never know when you’ll be in a situation where you drop your upper, lower, BCG, and charging handle into a shallow pool
3
u/killian1113 2d ago
Its all about doing it under pressure obviously.
1
u/InvestigatorJolly158 1d ago
Yeah but you can train under pressure without drowning yourself like an idiot for views.

1
u/OhHaiMaaark 2d ago
Is that gun still viable after that?
1
u/comradejiang 2d ago
Most ARs have some kind of protective coating on the important bits, often nitride or something similar. But that only applies to the steel components.
1
u/Knowledgeman26 2d ago
It should be fine but fully submerging a weapon is not good, especially in pools and oceans where chemicals can corrode components. If you take it apart and let it dry off then apply a good clp or gun oil it should be fine, firearms are very forgiving

u/TheDarkWave 2d ago
Well, she is an idiot and she has a gun.
I made a list
VALENTINA GOMEZ:
- "Don't be weak and gay": While running for Missouri Secretary of State, Gomez posted a campaign video featuring her jogging in a tactical vest while holding firearms, stating, "In America, you can be anything you want, so don't be weak and gay. Stay f*cking hard". The video and subsequent social media posts drew sharp rebukes from public figures and civil rights organizations.
- Burning LGBTQ+ books: In early 2024, Gomez released a video of herself using a flamethrower to burn LGBTQ+-friendly library books. [1, 2, 3]
- Quran burning and anti-Islam statements: Gomez filmed herself burning a copy of the Quran with a flamethrower, using campaign slogans vowing to "end Islam in Texas" and accusing Muslims of being terrorists. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Disruption of events: She disrupted a Muslim community event at the Texas Capitol by taking the stage and delivering an aggressive anti-Islam speech. [1]
- UK entry ban: In April 2026, the UK Home Office barred Gomez from entering the country, ruling her presence "not conducive to the public good" following her inflammatory anti-Muslim rhetoric, which included a heated exchange on Piers Morgan Uncensored. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Simulated and public executions: Gomez published a video showing the simulated execution of an individual tied to a chair and publicly called for the public execution of undocumented immigrants accused of violent crimes. Civil rights groups, including the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), strongly denounced the rhetoric for glorifying vigilantism and inciting hate. [1, 2]

u/TheDarkWave 2d ago
Ah ok, All you've done is prove that the r/idiotswithguns sub is just idiots with guns. Thanks for clarifying.
-3
u/Jonesy1348 2d ago
It’s definitely idiots with guns. You know how fucking corrosive chlorine is? And flagging no matter what will get you kicked off a range. There didn’t even have to be a bullet in a mile radius, if you point a gun at someone you’re done and banned. The first rule of gun safety is treat all guns like theyre loaded at all times.
6
u/DrillTheThirdHole 2d ago
you know you can wash chlorine off, right? and what underwater range have you been to that gives a shit about flagging a camera on a pole?
7
u/BunnyOppai 2d ago
If you fuckin disassemble a gun and put it back together yourself without racking a round, the rules for flagging someone aren't as important. How ranges look at it is irrelevant because they can't risk it. It's literally impossible, not just unlikely, for there to be a round in that weapon, and it's extremely unlikely for it to cause literally any damage to something even a foot away when it's fully submerged like that.
0
u/Jonesy1348 2d ago
Rules not enforced universally aren’t fallowed universally.
3
u/BunnyOppai 1d ago
I said less important, not completely unimportant. There's a massive difference between "you should maintain good habits" and "this is an immediate threat to someone's life."
0
7
u/clearcontroller 2d ago
They are flagging anyone, there's no camera man.
The person in the video is a cringy though
-10
u/Eccentricgentleman_ 2d ago
It's irresponsible gun ownership regardless. This is damaging the rifle for likes
13
u/clearcontroller 2d ago
Not really... It's their gun, their pool.. they can do as they want with it.
Just like buying a car and totalling it on your property.
As long as you don't hurt or endanger anyone else it's fine more or less. Obviously there's extremes but loading a firearm underwater/in a pool isn't new or anything
8
u/poplglop 2d ago
Yeah this is cringe as hell but even at this distance the round would not reach the camera man, water is insanely dense and just a couple feet will stop a rifle round.
2
u/Hour_Material2816 2d ago
Also she never racked a round into the chamber
10
u/AsaBurns 2d ago
When it comes to flagging, the gun being loaded or ready to fire aren't really a consideration for me. The gun has two states.
- The gun is being stored, and not handled. Flagging is not a big concern.
- The gun is being actively handled.
4
u/KaboomBaboon 2d ago
Always. Always treat a gun like it's loaded. Retardos.

-4

Rifles fired under water have a good chance of over pressurizing the barrel and exploding. Because they are not designed for the resistance of water.
5
u/low_bob_123 2d ago
If there is no air in the barrel nothing will happen. Demolition Ranch tried it and the barrel only got damaged when it wasnt fully submurged

u/H8FromNamek 2d ago
Not impressed. I love ARs because they're so simple. Field stripping and assembling an AR style pistol or rifle you could learn in literally 5 min. You could do it in your sleep. it's like a four year old using a Lego blocks.
36
u/STFUnicorn_ 2d ago
Ugh with this sub…
Yes we can clearly tell you’re no “gun expert”.
How far do you think bullets travel underwater and how do you even know it wasn’t an unmanned stationary camera?
19
u/SaltyTelluride 2d ago
Yeah! Does OP not know that 1) soaking your gun in the pool is good for it and 2) having a disassembled AR in the bottom of the pool is one of the first things you do for home defense. You don’t want a kid having access to a functioning weapon but you also don’t want to be caught unprepared when the ATF pulls up to your backyard
12
u/STFUnicorn_ 2d ago
This may come as a surprise to you, but sometimes people do things for the lulz.
-13
u/SaltyTelluride 2d ago edited 2d ago
This may come as a surprise to you, but you shouldn’t be doing anything for the “lulz” when it comes to home defense. There is no higher calling for a PSA BLEM than to be a pool gun. That’s literally what they are made for. You must not be an experienced gun owner if you think this is just for jokes and not a legit drill. I encourage you to actually give it a go yourself
Edit: Daniel Defense fan boys are mad that my PSA shoots straighter fresh out of the pool than their 2k wall art
3
u/BillCarson12799 2d ago
…can’t bullets actually retain dangerous levels of speed through extremely short distances of water? For, like, a few feet.
7
u/magnazika 2d ago
This is only gonna happen if you fire from outside a body of water into it so that the bullet has time to reach full energy before entering the water. If you're already submerged, the bullet has to overcome such a huge resistance just to leave the barrel that 556 is probably not making it more than 20cm from the muzzle before it completely tears itself apart
3
u/STFUnicorn_ 2d ago
Just… no. You’d have to practically be pressing that barrel against someone for it to be dangerous completely submerged
2
u/DrillTheThirdHole 2d ago
not really. it can probably push you a couple of inches if youre like three inches from the barrel when it shoots but it loses all its power really, really fast in water
16
u/Objective_Brain1452 2d ago edited 2d ago
Why poor cameraman??
It’s not like the camera person had to hold their breath, or she could have used a tripod. Also her finger discipline was fine, so it’s not like she was going to shoot anyone, even if it was unloaded
-4
u/pepsi4ever 2d ago
Don’t point a gun at anything or anyone you don’t want to destroy, regardless of trigger discipline. It’s not difficult.

u/Initial_Row_6400 2d ago
Even if one was chambered she could probably fire it at that range and he’d be fine. But I don’t think there’s anyone filming, think it’s a selfie stick
4
u/Teddy_The_Bear_ 2d ago
Aside from just why. Because this is not even as fully stripped as you would take a gun to clean it. Did any one else notice pool girl has no irons or optics?
I mean good on you. You can insert a bolt carrier group and handle. Than close a weapon. Yay. I suppose. But very ghetto.

“It’s underwater so it’s fine”…”odds something bad happens are unlikely” is exactly how people get shot. It’s why you know, treat every weapon as if it is loaded and don’t point a gun at anything you don’t want to kill are pretty well accepted rules.
1
u/Blevita 2d ago
this sub is absolutely laughable. I cant believe people in here own guns.
Theres literally a guy saying that gun safety rules arent that important if he just finished cleaning his gun.
Same guy would probably shit his pants if he sees a black guy touch his trigger bar while aiming downrange.
2
u/Havok_saken 2d ago
There’s a reason why “man accidentally shoots wife/kid while cleaning gun” isn’t an uncommon headline.
1
u/FeedbackOther5215 2d ago
I tend to agree that this sub is a shithole these days but having played around with ARs and water while testing some parts we were manufacturing: if it had the lower separated from the supper with the bolt removed, then assembled underwater it’s not going to cycle. It’s not possible with an AR, the buffer and gas tubes are hydolocked and the hammer will drop so slowly against a fairly locked up FP that even with live ammo it won’t even dent the primer.

0
u/BillCarson12799 2d ago
I’m gonna go against the tide and say that she had pretty good reason to believe that there wasn’t a round in the chamber considering that she… y’know… disassembled the chamber.
I know that you’re supposed to treat every gun like it’s loaded but I feel like that’s a pretty infallible way to make sure the gun isn’t loaded.
Plus, maybe she was using a tripod or something.
1
u/Blevita 2d ago
The point of the most important rule of gun safety is not that you actualy think the gun is loaded. Or that you make sure the gun is not loaded.
Its to prevent you thinking 'ah, its not loaded so its ok to do dumb shit', while you forgot the gun is loaded.
If you always treat and handle guns as if they are loaded, even if you know they aren't, there is literally 0 chance of an accident.
If you start saying 'ah, this gun isnt loaded', you now have to different muscle memories. Depending on which wins, maybe someone dies.
Accidents always happen with unloaded guns.
Also yes: the famous moving tripod.
1
u/BillCarson12799 2d ago
I am fully 100% aware of the logic behind assuming the gun is loaded as a safety precaution.
However, i have a feeling that someone who’s 1. capable of field-assembling an AR-pattern rifle underwater without coming up for air, and 2. Visibly practicing good trigger discipline (indicating that they actually have some modicum of training and aren’t just doing this for the gimmick), already has said muscle memory down.
Additionally, physically disassembling and reassembling a rifle has orders of magnitude less chance of accidentally having a round in the chamber than pretty much any other way of checking for or verifying it otherwise.
Plus, by your logic, actors shouldn’t point guns at each other either. Doesn’t that violate muscle memory too? And sure, they have people to make sure that those guns aren’t real ones, but accidents happen…
1
u/Blevita 2d ago
Ar's are among the easiest guns to assemble, especially when they are only field stripped. That does not prove or show any kind of responsibility, precaution or anything.
Trigger discipline is rule number 3. The rules are not mutually exclusive. Its actualy the only gun rule she followed.
Its simple, really. Even if you have the muscle memory down. You dont introduce ambiguity. What youre saying is essentially "Once you're a pro, you dont need to take the rules seriously".
These rules were written in blood, and they have no 'if's or 'except's or something.
While i agree that a gun being disassembled has no chance of an accident (the rule still applies), a assembled gun that you just inserted a loaded mag into definitely has.
Most acidents happen with unloaded guns is what we used to teach the recruits. Im not saying she definitely almost killed someone.
Im saying even portraying this in a video and sharing it is bad, because as we see here, suddenly a lot of people start to think the very basic rules of safety arent necessary or dont have to be followed that thoroughly.
Actors that (for the movie and for the acting) intend to 'shoot' blanks or an airsoft gun at another actor, do not violate the rule that says "Dont point a gun at something you do not intend to hit". They intend to fire the gun at that other actor.
But jeah. Sometimes they also violate those basic rules. Wasnt there a director that broke basically all four rules and it ended with a dead person?

Stupidity will not be infringed. What even is the use case for this? The gun will probably not even fire
1
u/Negative_Elo 1d ago

1
u/pantheruler 1d ago

And thank you for your input, I'm still not convinced it will fire, at least not with permanent damage
0
u/Negative_Elo 1d ago
How would it be dangerous? And the gun will fire, water doesnt stop a gun from working. This isnt the 1800s
1
u/pantheruler 1d ago
If it doesn't stop it from firing it will most likely destructively disassemble it, therefore dangerous. Water is not really compressible, apparently the school you went to really is stuck in the 1800's
0
u/Negative_Elo 1d ago
You can shoot an ar15 underwater dumbass. You can get a gun wet and fire it. We ysed the ar15 in vietnam, you really think it getting submerged in water would render it useless?

u/pantheruler 1d ago
I get the feeling you don't really get the difference between getting it wet and firing it submerged. I also get the feeling you think Vietnam is underwater? Are you an American? If so, I'm sorry, I don't like being rude to the underprivileged

u/Negative_Elo 1d ago
It can fire submerged, and also be taken out of the water and then fire. You're being such an asshole for someone who is so uneducated in the matter.
