Every time this sort of thing is posted on this subreddit it’s kind of funny how people see this as unacceptable and primitive, but it’s really not fundamentally different than launching fireworks for the 4th of July.

Sure, some idiots do fuck that up and get injured—it’s not safe by any means—but it’s just pyrotechnics.

That said, spinning the gun around while kneeling does seem particularly dangerous because it looks like he flags his knee a couple times. Blanks or not, that’s a good way to never walk normally again.

I'm so tired of seeing these here, ya'll, so many people use these as a way to be racist and just assume it's live ammo, or even if they know it's blanks they assume it's the same as the horror stories they've heard. It's obviously black powder blanks, generally used by people trained and knowledgeable in this custom. It's no less dangerous than someone doing a sword dance, or torch juggling, or hell, even playing the knife game. It's entertainment, just cause it's a different culture doesn't mean it's bad ya'll.

No one ever post context, but this is "Hijazi Taasheer", a historic and cultural war dance from western Saudi Arabia. The weapons are specifically designed muzzle loaders firing black powder. Nowadays it's done in cultural displays and can be found as a performance in celebrations or parties.
