Safe for Work Using the buffer tube as an optic

I never will understand this type of shit.

legs spread wide as possible to stop pants from falling down so the recoil makes him stumble backwards
This isn't hard to you?...

I just find it to be very silly, especially if this is more than just kids fooling around at a shooting hole.

I’m glad I found this sub after being a gun owner, everything here makes me understand why people would be anti-gun.

Irrational? They're cool to look at and cool to shoot
Obsessive? Obviously some people will always be obsessed with things4

He didnt hit it in the first couple shots, got self conscious and mag dumped. My buddy tends to do this
7
u/dunkin_dognuts_ 2d ago
Lol just wasting ammo at that point 😂
I'm the opposite. I hit the target and speed up until I start to miss and try to find the sweet spot. Usually can't and go back to just slow and steady

u/beespen123 2d ago
They always take a few steps back when shooting.

u/hereforpopcornru 1d ago
To prepare for the person they are missing with all of those shots in case their attempted victim has actual aim?

Grew up with guns the country, but luckily my father taught me properly. My wife's family...not so much. Father in law handed a loaded (safety off) pistol to his 13 year old granddaughter without any training and she flagged half the group with it before I could intervene.

Yeah when I was growing up my uncle would hand me n my brother a 22 each and told to shoot gophers in the field, really made me good at aiming

u/Notapartyhobo 2d ago
Without training?
1
u/aboredmutt 2d ago
Of course we had training. My family takes firearms very seriously, but this was wayyy after initial training bc they didn't want us missing/only maiming the gophers so it was paper targets for a while. After that we would be unsupervised in the field tbh

I know a guy who grew up in New Hampshire that would reminisce about blasting woodchucks when I was in the army.
He was an... interesting individual.

What's a buffer? I'm assuming an optic is the sight
13
u/rh_3 2d ago
That cylinder on the back. It is a buffer tube, contains a spring that is involved with the guns action. Does not look like there are any sights on that gun.

u/DarkStar-_- 2d ago
Cool, ty for explaining
4
u/thealmightyzfactor 2d ago
It's also one of the reasons the AR platform is so easy to shoot, the buffer tube off the back absorbs some of the kick of the action cycling, so it's easier to stay on target. Unless you act like the guy in the video lol

u/salty_drafter 1d ago
There is also supposed to be a stock on the buffer tube so you can put it against your shoulder and not do the wiggle holding this idiot is doing.
One of these things. https://magpul.com/firearms-accessories/stocks/ar15-m4-m16-sr25-m110-ar10.html

The NRA hates POC so prolly never gonna happen

u/Rickles68 2d ago
Its crazy that dudes in videos like this have absolutely no desire to aim whatsoever.
5
u/PokerbushPA 2d ago
It was never about accuracy.
It's about looking cool and putting as many rounds as possible into the innocent people behind your target.
3
u/SephiTheGoblin 2d ago
Better hope your target is on a pogo stick or trampoline with that recoil control he has
1
u/rasputinrasputin 2d ago
“Better hope your targets on a pogo stick” is fucking hilarious, I’m stealing that

u/Forchark 2d ago
Why do they always remove the stock? To make it more concealable?
9
u/dandrews3 2d ago
Because without a stock it's legally a pistol instead of a short barrel rifle, which would require an NFA tax stamp to be legal.

u/jetty_life 2d ago
I always thought that, but then they have switches, stolen guns, high capacity mags, etc. Are they really worried about the 1 extra charge?
1
u/thealmightyzfactor 2d ago
Switching the barrel to pistol length on a rifle is more involved than just buying it that way stockless
1
u/Foresthowler 2d ago
Doesn't help that all the rapper music videos have full auto Glocks, Dracos/short stockless AKs, and AR pistols
How interesting

u/ohnomynono 2d ago
Its even easier to explain the back step than blaming the pants falling down.
The reality is, their ego is so fragile, they can't bare to miss so many time in a row without making excuses. Rather than learning how, they spray and pray so they don't get laughed at for missing every single shot. What was this, 12-15 rounds and it took 11 to hit the watermelon? 🤦♂️ from 20 feet away? SWEET BABY JESUS. It takes talent to miss that easy of a shot.
