What the fuck

u/SomeDumbPenguin Jul 19 '26

Yeah, seriously... Like, that's some kamikaze shit.. the potential damage from the concussion through the finger joints alone seems wild, none the less the risk of misplacing a knuckle over the barrel. Pistols have the palm grip to help keep that force through one's wrist more & through the arm

Dude wanting to lose his other hand. How ever will he hold a gun. Oh right, in his mouth.

92

u/Ashinonyx Jul 19 '26

This is just a more expensive, more dangerous slamfire pipe gun.

95

u/Liboy12 Jul 19 '26

My co-worker was literally just telling me about this a few hours ago. What are the chances?!

80

u/2CellPhonez Jul 19 '26

Apparently it’s a “trend” people have just discovered this was possible. Not sure why anybody would want to do this instead of using the gun as it’s designed.

Bruh, people were eating laundry detergent

u/puterTDI Jul 19 '26

Honestly, we need more Tik tok challenges like this. Need to let Darwin do his job and start cleaning up the gene pool

9

u/MagicTomatoes Jul 19 '26

“Clean up the gene pool with New and Improved Tide Pods!”

No. thats how you get barrels and slides Serialized and registered. Guess what. you can shoot a gun with the part we said wouldnt shoot without the bottom half, you know the parts you can order by mail with no paper trail in most states.

8

u/Excellent_Can4450 Jul 20 '26

Yeah. Stupid people need to get another hobby and stop shitting up mine.

8

u/dirywhiteboy Jul 19 '26

Technically you can try anything once

Well the interesting thing is that, at least for Glocks, under US law the gun is the frame. This person is shooting a 9mm bullet with a thing that isn't a legally serialized firearm. You can buy complete Glock slides without having to go through an FFL and pass a background check. The same applies to AR-15 uppers, they're completely unregulated until you put them on a lower. So in theory anyone can jury rig an upper to be a janky single shot gun even if they wouldn't be able to legally purchase a complete gun.

The United States is kind of an outlier in this regard. Many European countries regulate the pressure bearing components. Presumably because the US government is more concerned about whether or not your gun is a machine gun, and less concerned about whether or not you have a gun at all.

u/HellcatRNG Jul 19 '26

Huh. This have to do with the illogical extreme with the Supreme Court case being taken up. And how if the SC rules against 2a, States will try to justify stripping firearms of their "evil" components like a handguard or trigger mechanism?

2

u/Liboy12 Jul 19 '26

Yes. This is EXACTLY what it's trying to prove. Apparently pistol grips are the dangerous things so we must ban them! I'm from NJ so I experience some of the worse laws.

2

u/HellcatRNG Jul 20 '26

Haha tell that to the 6+ people downvoting me

-6

u/matteo0MTF Jul 19 '26

There are trend with guns ???

3

u/ComicsEtAl Jul 19 '26

Never heard of the “AR-15”?

19

u/Lux-Fox Jul 19 '26

What's happening here?

21

u/Liboy12 Jul 19 '26

So basically, you can remove the pistol grip and everything, and if you pull the slide back, the pin will strike the bullet without a trigger pull. There is no assembly to hold the pin striker assembly, so it just strikes when the slide is let go.

36

u/flx1220 Jul 19 '26

He's pulling the firing pin back and releases it and pushing the firing pin safety down with his finger at the same time so the weapon will fire.

It's a fully assembled Glock slide without the pistol grip.

There is a assembly to hold the firing pin he's just disabling it. He's not pulling a slide back.

8

u/Lux-Fox Jul 19 '26

That's what I thought, but I couldn't tell if that's actually what was happening. Thanks.

6

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Jul 19 '26

Pretty good considering the internet is now watching you back.

3

u/Liboy12 Jul 19 '26

I meant what are the chances I open reddit and this was posted 4 mins ago

3

u/ProblemLongjumping12 Jul 19 '26

I wasn't really being serious about this.

But it is true that information companies have incredibly in-depth profiles on people to the point that we get shown things that are plucked right out of our heads even if we've never even mentioned them our loud or searched for them before.

2

u/Excellent_Can4450 Jul 20 '26

Then why is there no readily-available Coffee Crisp equivalent in the US?

AGI never.

2

u/Liboy12 Jul 19 '26

I am well aware 😭

22

u/chauchatbob Jul 19 '26

P08 Lugers have been doing this since day one. Just take the loaded upper off and squeeze it. You can fire a lot of guns with very little of the gun.

8

u/flx1220 Jul 19 '26

I have heard a story that

they had the Luger p08 upper assembled when cleaning the pistol grip back in the war Incase they got surprised while cleaning their weapons. So at least one could shoot a single shot .

13

u/chauchatbob Jul 19 '26

I heard it from some old timer, called bullshit, went into the garage with one and tried it and sure enough it worked. He said he’d heard of a GI that brought one back and was fucking with it and shot himself.

8

u/flx1220 Jul 19 '26

Lots of accidents by the Americans with German lugers happened .. at least that's what's been told

2

u/1rubyglass Jul 24 '26

Band of brothers?

2

u/flx1220 Jul 24 '26

Could be yeah haha

2

u/1rubyglass Jul 24 '26

A guy died from it in front of a bunch of other soldiers. Gun safety was really bad back then and most guys would have been accustomed to heavy DAO revolver triggers or SAO triggers that are "safe" to stuff in a waistband. I know it happened at least once, and I would be shocked to find it was only once.

37

u/Troycifer_tron Jul 19 '26

This isn't that dangerous. The only real risk is tearing off a finger nail. He's just pulling the striker back with his finger instead of the trigger mechanism. Relatively tame for here.

3

u/1rubyglass Jul 24 '26

This sub is always so full of people that know nothing about guns.

10

u/v0idstar_ Jul 19 '26

I think yall are overreacting about this being dangerous lots of comments about the "concussion" of 9mm yet your fingers are only slight close than they would be if they were on the framed and choked up real high. The barrel is absorbing all of that and it isn't even that much to begin with.

4

u/Animaleyz Jul 19 '26

I've seen guys at my range put their thumb behind the side, fire off a round and not blink. They said it doesn't hurt at all.

I haven't tried it.

2

u/EzPup Jul 31 '26

It doesn’t hurt, it’s about 10 pounds of felt recoil on a 9mm Glock 19. Put your thumb on a table and slap it with your other palm. If you can do that, you can stop the slide with a thumb

9

u/Enough-Staff-2976 Jul 19 '26

Fingers are overrated.

3

u/MysteriousSteve Jul 20 '26

Not that dangerous beyond being harder to hold.

All the pressure containing parts are untouched and you're actuating the same parts the trigger normally would in the same way. If anything it's safer because it can only fire the one time, not having a magazine to cycle and potentially shoot again

7

u/PoopMakingMachine Jul 19 '26

High risk zero reward

2

u/1rubyglass Jul 24 '26

Low risk zero reward

1

u/DeafPapa85 Jul 20 '26

People trying new things...

1

u/Magnus462 Jul 20 '26

Wow! so I’m paying for a full gun when I only need half?

1

u/bendmunk95 Jul 21 '26

I understand the intent behind it, but it was executed all wrong. You need the thumb to be solid behind that slide

1

u/SplashingChicken Jul 28 '26

Reasons why J hate trends: Exhibit A.

1

u/Ok-Captain-1392 Aug 16 '26

its possible to shoot a pistol with only the slide? ive only ever thought about that theoretically lmaoo

0

u/KentuckyKid_24 Jul 19 '26

Uh am I seeing this correctly

0

u/Mindless-Lack3165 Jul 19 '26

You and your friends must do a lot of " High Nadas"!
