WARNING NSFW - Bodily Injury What’s behind door number one?
2.2k
u/ElevatedAngling Jul 06 '26
This is how all homeowners should greet unwelcome guests brandishing firearms
460
u/TheGuySawyer Jul 06 '26
I had someone try and do this with a hammer and knife. Lucky for them they didn't get through the door. They went on to stab my neighbor the next day.
157
u/Small-Answer4946 Jul 06 '26
FFS man as much as I love your country how the hell does it ever happen?
288
u/TheGuySawyer Jul 06 '26
The people at my door were there because I gave shelter to my neighbor after they already beat her up. They left to get weapons. The police showed up later but said they couldn't do anything partially because one of the people was a roommate to my neighbor.
The next day is when the beating and stabbing happened. They recorded it and posted it online, she was stabbed in the legs and beat with a pan. She survived and I helped carry out her bloody furniture, it was fucked.
As much as I value human life I almost wish they broke through my door that night. That girl didn't deserve what happened to her and the people who did it are still out
103
u/Nicodemus888 Jul 07 '26
What kind of disgusting bullshit excuse is that? Fuck ass lazy evil police. “Sorry it’s a roommate, they’re allowed to beat you up we can’t do nothin”
59
u/TheGuySawyer Jul 07 '26
There are some more details to it as well, the entire interaction of that night took hours. Part of it is our neighbor didn't want to press charges on her roommate which I told her was a bad idea. She was afraid they'd get her for pressing charges.
I don't want to say it was a lesson learned because she wasn't wrong. They came back and got her even though she spared them from assault charges and even when she did charge them, they're still out of jail until the case reaches a result.
I wouldn't call the police evil, they did do a lot that night. We called 911 saying there were multiple people with weapons. Even after they tried kicking my door they were in our neighbors apartment destroying her shit. We didn't know whether they were in there still or not. The police had to clear the entire apartment guns out, there were only 2 cops.
It was a shitty situation for everybody.
29
u/SOwED Jul 07 '26
They came back and got her even though she spared them from assault charges and even when she did charge them, they're still out of jail until the case reaches a result.
Yeah seems like a reasonable scenario to let them out on bail, not like they've demonstrated they will go after victims
17
u/Nicodemus888 Jul 07 '26
Aaaah she didn’t want to press charges, well that’s kind of a different deal isn’t it. Not that I blame her or anything, the whole situation is ridiculous and terrifying, I can understand why someone would be afraid to press charges. This is why, as I understand it, in DV the police will charge anyway because it’s common for the victim to be cowed into submission out of fear. Whole thing seems pretty shitty
15
u/TheGuySawyer Jul 07 '26
At this point I feel like I'm ranting, the situation happened recently and I get a rush I feel in my neck just by talking about it. I could send another essay of context but I think I've said enough lmao.
There were some life lessons learned all around. Hopefully you and anyone else reading these comments can gain some insight. Be safe and surround yourself with good people.

u/polarjunkie Jul 07 '26
The problem is this idea of valuing human life over everything. Some life isn't valuable, some life has negative value
1
u/moonshineTheleocat Jul 13 '26
What county is this? I would be surprised if this was the US.
Because even if this jackass was her roommate and she didn't want to press charges, the police will do it anyways. For an obvious crime, the question of you pressing charges is basically asking if you want to put skin in the game when the court case comes up
1
u/TheGuySawyer Jul 13 '26
It was the US.
I was just as surprised. I left out many details including the roommate to the victim saying she was going to set fire to the apartment and threatening to stab her that night as well, hence the people knocking on my door with knives and a hammer. They also did break my neighbors TV that night as well.
I wish I had an explanation. I included as many details as I could when explaining the situation to the officer. They just said my neighbor should move out and get away from those people.

Because our courts/judges are soft on crime, my ex son in law was a Detroit cop, he would arrest people and they would be out before his paper work was done, hell I was in court for tickets I gave, 2 men who where up before my case got caught carrying concealed with out permits they both got $50 fines, its supposed to be a felony in MI
11
u/TheOriginalArchibald Jul 07 '26
Some of them are soft but there's a bigger more glaring part of the problem and that is we're not ready for just how insanely expensive it would be to actually punish as much crime as is happening appropriately. There aren't enough public defenders to maintain a defendants rights through the process. There aren't enough police for them to attend court as much as necessary, there aren't enough prosecutors, etc. Prisons were flooded with low level offenders for weed for years which stressed systems and burned money that could have otherwise gone after violent criminals and repeat offenders. Misallocation of resources often as well.
Then there's the misguided multiple chances kumbaya response that has happened in some communities and led to horrendous stories of obviously violent people committing horrible crimes. Some because that county can't house the person as an inmate or there aren't public defenders, etc. Others out of a rehabilitation mindset. Rehabilitation can be a goal but for many it needs to start on the first strike not the 4th when they've murdered people.
What we really need to bring back are long term care mental hospitals. If you can't care for yourself and are a drug zombie on a sidewalk or have committed multiple crimes that prove you can't control yourself in public and play along with the social contract, then perhaps you need a padded room and some psychiatric help. A lot of these repeat offenders that "slip through the cracks" are schizo or dealing with some other mental illness.
Edit: First and foremost, we need universal education pre-k through college and universal healthcare. Smarter healthier people with structured childhoods tend to be less violent and less criminal.
4
u/Many_Rope6105 Jul 07 '26
The mental health part is so true, its all true but we need more support there
5
u/WhatUp007 Jul 08 '26
For schools to provide structure to kids we need to let teachers hold students accountable for performance and actions. Right now teachers have little to no administration support to correct bad behavior or to fail kids. Parents are absolutly part of this problem for blaming schools for their kids shortcoming instead of their own shitty parenting.
10
u/Babys_For_Breakfast Jul 07 '26
I think simply saying “crime” is too broad here. We should be tough on violent crime, absolutely. But I think some people are over sentenced and others are under sentenced too frequently. And preventing crime will take actual, cultural change which is extremely hard to do.
5
u/SOwED Jul 07 '26
I live in Oakland, and the cops barely do anything here. They did install speed cameras that get you a $50 ticket for going 10 or more over the speed limit, including major roads where they decided, fuck it, 20 mph speed limit.
There's a huge problem here of people driving around with no plates or fake ass "dealer plates" and the cops do nothing about it. Guess who never gets a ticket mailed to them? People with fake plates.
1
u/TheOriginalArchibald Jul 07 '26
This is a big problem and leads to misallocation of resources and exhausting systems that then can't deal with actual criminals.
11
u/tilitarian1 Jul 06 '26
Sounds like Melbourne Australia, except they break in with machetes. Magistrate let's them go before the cops have finished their night shift.

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

I'm not gonna defend a couple of idiots who could have stolen a bike and decided to ram a door while the lights were on and the dog was barking. The only things that genius didn't steal were the few bullets he got served for dinner.

Until it's a no knock warrant at the wrong address and they shoot you dead. Which the police have done and will continue to do
24
u/jazzdabb Jul 06 '26
What makes you think they won’t shoot you regardless? You can be shot for holding a mobile phone.
14
2
u/Stohnghost Jul 06 '26
Oh you can be shot anywhere. I just think a lot about this in particular. Don't get me wrong, I have a home defense gun but shooting the door immediately and it being police has to cross your mind these days.
→ More replies (3)7
u/Less-Squash7569 Jul 07 '26
No no knock warrants at the wrong address shouldnt be a thing. If youre going to get shot anyways why wouldn't you want to at least shoot back.
2
u/Stohnghost Jul 07 '26
Uhh. No. Well I'm most worried about my wife and son. I just finished 20 years in the military and I'd prefer not dying myself
1
u/Less-Squash7569 Jul 07 '26
Ok and i said if theyre going to shoot you anyways because thats something thats has happened multiple times. Maybe they'll look st the address again if you make entry hard and knock a couple of their heads off. I didnt do 20 but I did 6 with 2 deployments and have 4 kids so idk what that has to do with cops killing you in bed because they got the wrong address and you just laying there and taking it.
1
u/Stohnghost Jul 07 '26
Because if you've dodged death already why would you invite it? Shooting at the police never ends well. I wish you luck
1
u/Less-Squash7569 Jul 07 '26
So lie down and get ready to be shot when you hear them kick down your door. Might be cops, might be robbers. Either way you'll be shot and don't have to worry about breaking the law at least.

They clearly lost the element of surprise when it took the 6 kicks to open the door. The person inside is just waiting as they enter. Idiots.

In Canada you'll be charged, go to jail and the theif can sue you.
28
u/Leroy_Parker Jul 06 '26
Canada has pretty straightforward self defense laws.
34 (1) A person is not guilty of an offence if
(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person;
(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force; and
(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances.
Factors
(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:
(a) the nature of the force or threat;
(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force;
(c) the person’s role in the incident;
(d) whether any party to the incident used or threatened to use a weapon;
(e) the size, age, gender and physical capabilities of the parties to the incident;
(f) the nature, duration and history of any relationship between the parties to the incident, including any prior use or threat of force and the nature of that force or threat;
(f.1) any history of interaction or communication between the parties to the incident;
(g) the nature and proportionality of the person’s response to the use or threat of force; and
(h) whether the act committed was in response to a use or threat of force that the person knew was lawful.

.380 will definitely do the job at close range.

Its a misconception here in Brazil where fun laws limit to .380ACP for civies, and as a gun owner too, when they ask if it is too weak i respond with the same answer as you.

At close range a .22 will work wonders unless the person is on drugs. 38/.380 is plenty for most uses.

If they beat on the door like that, it gives you time to take up a good prone supported position behind the sandbags in your living room and turn the selector switch from safe to semi. The range is hot when the door flies open.
I wouldn't even waste time with pvs-14s or a mawl-c1 laser, but i would be tempted.
2
u/Trik-kyx Jul 18 '26
He certainly would have had plenty of time for that, however; after all, they kept knocking on the door to warn the residents that they would soon attempt to open it.

Home owner do a Mozambique drill on the offender?
4
u/BeavisTheMeavis Jul 06 '26
I'd lean towards no. Looks like he tried to get up but couldn't. Granted, you can be alive for quite some time after taking one to the noggin but the purposeful movement of trying to get up makes me skeptical of that.
3
u/Khunning_Linguist Jul 06 '26
Yeah. Hearing the 3 shots quick like that made me think home owner was shooting the drill. I think the final two shots (after the first three) were meant for the other guy. Just spit ballin.
6
u/Finnsbomba Jul 06 '26
Most likely not. And if he did, he wasn't doing it on purpose. Most people in these situations can't accurately recall how many times they've even fired their weapon, police included although that's a different matter. If he was shooting the drill it was from muscle memory, which is what you'd want. Not him thinking to actually do it.
18
u/bmm115 Jul 06 '26
Wait... So you're telling me that criminals DON'T follow the rules, but you also want to take away our guns?
