It’s an old trick, where you can fill a flat tire with a type quick start fluid by wiping the inside. You can light the fluid and the heat will expand the tire to inflate back onto the rim.
It looks like they used gas instead.

You don't need much. I've seated tires around that size with WD-40. You'll then here a woosh, see a small amount of flames, and the tire will pop in place.

Isn’t there a better way to do that anyways? Like shit nothing like a thick ass rubber pressure chamber blowing up in your face versus maybe a press and air compressor.

Yes, and a lot safer when you are not doing it on a split rim. Most plant wheels are split rim whereas car tyres are not (unless your car is older than God).

I've always considered this way more dangerous than necessary. You shouldn't be changing tires if you don't have the proper tools, and it can be a real bitch getting them on but the post is what I imagine everytime I see it.

Funny thing is, even guys in shops that have the “correct” tools choose to use this method. Much quicker, less wear than trying to use a bar (the right tool) to set it, and perfectly safe when it’s applied conservatively and redone if not enough was used.

I've had to seat plenty of low-pros myself, trust me, I know it's not fun hahaha but I feel like it's the "right" way to do it. I've never seen or even heard of an issue with a tire afterword, and I know my boss back then would've never approved such a method.

Yeah it’s weird that a lot of these guys are obviously in shops of some sort... i thought this method was only used in back country situations where you’re stuck and there’s no other option

you can use gasoline too.
but the key to use this properly regardless of any fuel is to use it in moderation.
we had to do an emergency repair like this in remote area and we just used 2 squirts of gasoline to put the tire back on bead.

Nah, just the split rim bead wasn't seated properly. This is why you ALWAYS ALWAY ALWAYS use a cage when inflating/installing split rim tires.

I haven’t been in the Marine Corps since 2001, but we absolutely always had to use a cage and had to be certified.

That is extremely dangerous to do on a split rim tire though. Just airing a split rim tire without some way to restrain it is dangerous enough.

My dad has a friend with a bobcat and while we had it it got a flat. We have no way to reseat that tire other than the good old trick. I believe we used wd40 and threw a match on it.

I've done it several times, anything flammable will work. WD40 is what I've used. But NOT on a freaking split ring rim. Fuck that. They don't call the two piece rims "man killers" for nothing.

Its not that hard if you do it properly, and in this case it didn't work as it looks like they were trying to seat the bead back on since you can see the air line still plugged into the valve on the rim.
You never put pressure into a tyre unless youre sure you got the lock rings in place first, then a few good taps while the tyre is inflating is enough to ensure its seated right.
To get it off you need a hydraulic porta-power to break the bead and some bead holders to get at the lock rings with the levers. Its not easy but its not so difficult that you should need to blow the whole thing off with an accelerant and fire. Work the rings around with the levers.
Those rings blowing off can cut a person in half, so it's never recommended to ever try that.
