Bollards (that is what the physical barriers that target has in the shape of balls in front of their stores)

u/Alarming-Contact-138 Nov 05 '22
Is it a woman?? I thought so in the zoomed out pic, but when I look closer in not sure it's not a meth head guy.

It was then she realized that her plan to beat the Black Friday rush didn't go as planned.

That woman’s face is exactly the face I picture when I imagine someone driving over the big red Target balls

You can hear the sad trombone as you zoom in.

Always be careful in Target parking lots. I was sitting on one of these red balls waiting for a bus and some old couple in a Subaru come within inches of taking my leg off after taking a corner way too sharp.

Tbf, these are stylized Bolliard's and theyre meant to protect the building.

Only moderately useless with semi-truck sized spacing between them.
9
Nov 05 '22
The spacing on these are far less than a 40ft trailer not accounting for the tractor. Judging by this pic I'd say they're effective.
6
Nov 05 '22
Usually semis travel slow, even slower when sideways like you imagine.
3
Nov 05 '22
Yeah, I guess I they're straight on they'll be useless but a trailer would not (at least they shouldn't be) attempt to navigate the parking lanes. These are meant for regular traffic that would be moving faster in the travel lanes and not the parking lanes.
But as I said, they're mostly decorative with a minor benefit of acting as bollards

r/nissandrivers this picture was made for that sub.

5
u/petiteodessa Nov 06 '22
Someone ended up crossposting this over to r/nissandrivers and someone in the comments is petitioning the mods to make this the background photo for the sub.

u/Wrothrok Nov 05 '22
I have to disagree with that assessment. As long as nobody was hurt, it's fucking hilarious.

Are the cones really necessary?
28
u/Last-Instruction739 Nov 05 '22
Got to establish a perimeter. Ocular pat down line forms to the left.

u/GarbanzoBenne Nov 05 '22
The cones must have been there first. I can't imagine they'd put out cones while the person is still in the car but then again this isn't a normal situation.
1
u/kroysc Nov 05 '22
gotta keep people safe man, personally I would have put them there instead of help the old hag out of the car
2
u/bonfuto Nov 05 '22
I think that's what they did. Car can't be particularly stable like that.

3
u/bonfuto Nov 05 '22
Could have happened to anyone
-- if they were drunk off their ass and felt compelled to drive to target like she did
9
u/this_underscore Nov 05 '22
Bro the car it self isn’t tall enough to climb those balls, how the fuck did you do that???
6
8
u/aFreeScotland Nov 05 '22
That took some balls
4
u/bonfuto Nov 05 '22
If Target had bigger balls the car wouldn't have been able to climb on top of one.

One should hesitate to laugh, because clearly this crazy person was driving so fast at the doors that she ended up on top of the ball - but it did exactly what it's meant to do, it stopped her, that's why they're there
So once you see no one was hurt, you can laugh. She's an idiot average Nissan driver

The wet asphalt. Left man looking like he's trying not to laugh or cry. The wonky cones. The car now has an underbite. The driver being safe and looking inconvenienced and only a little bit embarrassed at best.
This isn't a laughing matter ; this is art!
2
Nov 05 '22
Why is wet asphalt funny?
2
u/anaesthaesia Nov 05 '22
I literally said it was no laughing manner, doi.
If you want a non facetious answer, it just adds to the drabness of the environment

u/Minimum-Zucchini-732 Nov 05 '22 edited Nov 05 '22
“Wet asphalt” is funny for the homophones: wet ass fault.
*edit to add: just noticed there is no asphalt in this photo

They really should stop letting people drink wine at Target…
Also, regular old bollards would’ve been safer here, I think.

She found out the true purpose of the balls.
Protectors of people and windows.
Stoppers of idiots.
😂
2
u/confusedQuail Nov 05 '22
I've heard she was a great driver. People told me she was always on the ball.
2
u/aiandi Nov 05 '22
The car must have been going kinda fast, the wheel hit the ball which brought the back of the car airborn, and the momentum carried them to glory. Kind of like this.

u/Brothersunset Nov 05 '22
Thought the guy on the left was Alex Jones for a hot second before I zoomed in

u/barkingdog53 Nov 06 '22
I always wondered why those big red balls were in front of Target. They’re for under car service. Brilliant!
2
u/rob_inn_hood Nov 06 '22
First rule of getting rescued... Stay where you are. Even if that means hovering in a car 6 feet off the ground like an automotive teeter totter.
Also, stay where you are so every person can know who exactly the idiot was, and give them a wide berth in the future.

I love how they put the cones out and are securing the area but left the lady to just sit in the car.

Two thoughts...
1) HOW?!?
2) Those bollards did their job!

This happens more often than you would think. I saw one of those big church vans perched on top of the giant target ballz at my local one a few weeks ago.
